I remember my grandparents tall grandfather clock with all the moving parts and the chimes.

Most everything is now digital, but those long, tall clocks were so majestic and beautiful.

Remember how they could have so many features?

I remember soaking my pantyhose in the bathroom sink with that special delicate soap called Woolite, all the time.

It was a special chore for us ladies who needed to have fresh clean pantyhose on a near daily basis.

Then we would hang them up to dry over the shower rail!

Me too!

I hid the jacks in the grandfather clocks lower drawer and inside too, around the chimes.

I don't remember ever seeing the doll .. the minstrel shows, yes.

I do remember some little kids (in white neighborhoods) dressing up with blackface for Halloween ... usually as bums or a popular character like Aunt Jemima. There wasn't alot of money for costumes back then; those were pretty inexpensive ones to do.

Nope. Never heard of the Noddy books either.

I did check to see if the Noddy books and the golliwog were ever popular here in the U.S., and apparently they were ... but just not anywhere where I was!

Mine was only a toy I remember receiving one Christmas I don't not what the big deal is ???? Anyway they are banned now in the Uk.

Every friday nite at the local youth centre hall we would bring our little hotted up scalextric cars to race against each other for the champianship title.
Some of the older boys would bring some kind of oil and put it on the back tyres so they could preform smokie burnouts , good stuff!....lol

Entry fee was only 20 cents....

Our cities park system had a great summer program and i spent many days at the park, playing tether ball, box hockey, kickball, baseball, softball ping pong, etc...

We had a city park which would lend out board games for free in the summer. That's long since gone away. The park has a public swimming pool. It would be open June 1st through Labor Day, and open from 9:00 a.m. till sunset. Every year they shrink the times. This year it was open for only about a month and a half, and the hours are 1:00 p.m. till 7:00.
