• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't consider myself brainwashed. Not in the slightest.
And I'm trying to become brainwashed. ;)

Romans 12:2, Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, it's good, pleasing and perfect will.

Ephesians 4:22-24, You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

You can't win, Coyote.

You might as well face it; You're brainwashed, you don't know it, you can't admit it, and only these complete strangers (who have never met you) from CF can see your brainwashing.

Of course, it's possible that they are really the ones that are brainwashed, since they don't consider themselves brainwashed either and that's how we would expect a brainwashed person to respond, I suppose.

Or perhaps, just maybe, the best idea is to stop casting aspersions on people altogether...

I'm actually not so sure about that, because I don't recall ever suggesting you, Tamara or JimfromOhio were brainwashed...

But once again, you've totally, completely and utterly missed the point. The point is we should ALL (and I really do mean ALL :p) which means you, me, Tamara, JFO, Axe, Coyote, etc. etc. ad infinitum.... STOP casting aspersions on one another.

lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the root of the poor lemon is impossible to eat....too many people tie themselves to the tree and want to savour the bitterness.

LOL thats what we do at Passover...when we eat the bitter herbs we savor the bitterness so that we can appreciate more what GOD has done for us. ;)

Even if they have, does that justify it?

Much (but not all) of CF debate is very reminiscent of grade school arguments. "He started it!" "Did not!" "Uh huh!" "Nuh uh!"

Titus, 3:10, Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him.

Is this what you're doing?

No, I don't think he is doing that at all Neph, I think he has been granted a ministry that is operating in some of the power gifts, such as the gifts of healings, and by having that and watching GOD do things through you to help the body of Christ, such activities like that become way more important than being on here talking about things.

That is my guesstimation.

I haven't quit debating, but I've eased up. A lot. It's a bit like pounding your head against a wall. Eventually you wise up and stop. ;)

CF debating usually consists of both sides intentionally misrepresenting the other and then acting innocent about it. No real debate can happen like that, and I am sorry to say that for years, I was a part of that problem here.

There is a contingent of "debaters" here who seem to not be satisfied unless everyone agrees with them. But it's like you said gennaoanothen, I am secure in what I believe. I don't need other people to agree with me. They are free to believe whatever they want, about me and about my beliefs.

Personally, I think it's sad. When we all respect one another and treat each other like we're all a part of the same body with the same Father, we are able to learn from the diversity of beliefs and backgrounds. But when we see no place for those who don't believe just like we think they ought to and our mission is to prove how wrong they are, no one learns anything and it only fosters division and strife.

That is a picture perfect illustration of why we can not have good, honest debate and learn from one another.

No matter what you think, I am not your "indoctrinated opponent". I am your brother in Christ.

The truth line is, I have come to my set of beliefs through much personal thought, study, prayer and experience. But to stack the deck against me and completely discredit anything I might have to say, you just brush me off as an "indoctrinated opponent", right from the get go.

Have some of the things I believe been influenced by Rhema and Hagin? No doubt, but then, some of the things I believe have been influenced by you and other people on this forum and in my life also. ;)

I just wish that we could all stop this nonsense and have respectable debate about our differences, like we were all part of the same family, like we were all on the same side, like we weren't each other's "opponents".

These are excellent post!!

Pete, for one who has labeled those, like me, who refuse to buy into WOF beliefs as being “deceived” or “victims”—which, if I recall, you have done in the past—you now all of a sudden seem to be taking the high road.

Don’t get me wrong, I welcome discussions of our differences without the ad hominem attacks but rather than lecture us, why not just show us the way.

I make no bones about the fact that I was part of the problem here for quite some time. In fact, I said that very clearly in my first post in this thread. I don't recall ever calling you "deceived" or a "victim", but I do recall saying things to you and about you I should not have said.

But we will never get past this if every time one of us tries to "take the high road", the other throws up in our face what we've done wrong in the past and gets indignant because of the perceived "lecture".

How do you propose we get past this? How do we stop the intentional misrepresentation of the other's beliefs? Is it by lecturing me about lecturing ;)?

This is my suggestion;

I will freely admit that I have failed at doing this in the past. But I am trying to do better.

My "lecture" is, we should respect one another and treat each other like we're all a part of the same body.
