Maybe I'm living in a different musical world. If you know the songs "Spirit In the Sky," "American Pie," "Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard," and "Changes" then just say "AMEN!!!!" I mean I don't even care if you can identify the artists. Just know the songs!! WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE MY KINDA MUSIC!?!?!?! :help: :help: :help: :help:

"Spirit in the Sky" is goofy, "American Pie" is classic, as is "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard". As for "Changes", I'll assume you're referring to the Bowie tune, which I like, but not as much as the Tupac song of the same name.

Probably comparing prices of nursing homes. ;)

Spirit in the Sky-Reggie Dwight did a great cover of this song! The cover is much better than the original

American Pie-I've heard this song too many times that I am sick of it.

Me and Julio-never heard of it till this thread.

Changes-who doesn't like David Bowie?

Perhaps I can take this advantage to recommend Paul Simon to everyone. If you haven't heard Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard, go sample it at iTunes...that is, if you care what I say. :) But, I think Paul Simon's body of work is some of the most brilliant available today. Most people only know Simon & Garfunkel stuff. But I imagine many have heard a few Paul Simon songs at some time or another--"Kodachrome" was featured in Coneheads. I recommend to any Simon beginner, "Negotiations & Love Songs"--this is a great compilation of his stuff from over the years. His playing and hooks are just phenomenal. His voice is also quite heavenly.

Amen.

And I second the Paul Simon recommendation: though I am particularly fond of Graceland. Actually, most Paul Simon stuff is pretty good. It took me a while to get into Still Crazy... but it finally clicked for me a few weeks ago.

And I also think more people should listen to Bowie. And by "more people", i mean "everyone".

Graceland is simply genious. I mean, seriously. Wow. Simon really is an incredible musician.

And, of course, everyone needs to listen to Bowie. Though I will say that some of his nineties techno weird music isn't all that incredible.

No music collection is complete without "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust."

Oooo. I'd love to hear a live version of Duncan. I might have to order that album right now!!!

seriously, get it. it's really good. I bought it just because they played "american tune" and "duncan" from this cd in the store where i work. i fell in love with the song, and i HAD to buy the cd. And that's how i got into Paul Simon.

the live Duncan on here is by far the best. And i recently bought Paul Simon's S/T album. and i got the remastered edition... it had demo versions of Me and Julio, and Duncan on it. pretty sweet.
