I might be overthinking this about a priest.

So you think it was odd for him to ask the org@$m question? It wasn't "important" for ascertaining the mortality of the sin? I feel dumb asking this, sorry.
God knows the sin we do better than any man.

you do not understand, the teachers at this catholic school told us we had to confess at least a sin, it cannot be possible we had none, well I assure you I had none! I was an innocent child loving everyone and happy! since when confessing our sins to GOD himself is of less value than confessing to a priest, a man?

the Lord told us how to pray;

The Lord's Prayer

Mat 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

What is the penance the priests give you, a few hail Mary and the lords prayer, in repetition?

Look at Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
I am so happy for you that you were sinless at that age. My children were NOT sinless at that age, nor was I. I had plenty to confess then and I still do now. But I’m happy for you.

By the way, mere rattling off an Our Father to set some kind of speed record would be the material for a sin right there. Such prayers are to engage your mind and not just your tongue. Did nobody tell you that an Our Father or a Hail Mary or even a blessing before meals was to engage your mind and heart and soul and thus not be vain? Or at some point did they tell you that and now you use it as a club against Catholics? Examine your soul to see if you now have something to confess.

Yep. Also, when one prays, they must be careful during prayer.

VerseMatthew 6:5-6: "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
ExplanationMatthew 6:5-6 is a passage from the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus teaches his disciples about prayer and the attitude with which they should approach God. The verse warns against hypocritical prayer, which is praying for the sake of being seen by others rather than for a genuine connection with God. Instead, Jesus encourages his followers to pray in private, where their relationship with God can be nurtured and strengthened without the need for external validation.
The Bible does indeed teach us to spread the faith and share the good news of God's love with others. However, this passage is not about sharing our faith but rather about how we pray and approach God.
Jesus is emphasizing the importance of having a heartfelt connection with God, free from the desire for recognition or approval from others.
Societal RelevanceIn modern society, this verse is relevant as it reminds us to prioritize our relationship with God and to avoid using prayer as a means of seeking validation or attention from others. With the constant distractions and pressures of modern life such as work, TV and electronics, it can be easy to forget the true purpose of prayer and to instead use it as a performance for an audience. By focusing on our personal relationship with God and setting aside time for private prayer, we can deepen our faith and draw closer to Him. Ultimately, this will enable us to be more effective in sharing the love of God with others from a place of genuine compassion and authenticity rather than seeking attention or recognition for ourselves.

It might be his personality and nothing about your past confession?
Yes. Many priests are not Mr. Congeniality. But that does not make them bad priests. My priest said that after he leaves the confessional after hearing confessions he asks the Holy Spirit to relieve his memory until he may need to recall in the next hearing of confessions. They are not gossiping with their fellow priests. They could be excommunicated. They have heard it all and none of us are as nearly as interesting ot titillating in the sin department as we think are.

I think in LB’s case, as in most cases with people it is embarrassment and thinking the priest will think less of us.

The standards are higher and that makes it more difficult. James 3:1 "Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly."
