Cape?!? That's where we used to go when we needed to go to the mall!

Oh and Maximus, please pray for my father-in-law, who's from Mississippi (Greenville, two hours south of Memphis). He has turned his back on Memphis BBQ and has been taken over by the evil Kansas City Style honey BBQ junk. That's what he uses now when the family gets together! Who puts honey in BBQ? It's supposed to be tangy! We're three hours from KC and KC Masterpiece has flooded our market with their BBQ Sauce! The rest of Arkansas is loyal to Memphis--except our little NW corner! I will be hoisting the flag for tangy BBQ when I past my ribs in 8 short hours! VIVA MEMPHIS BBQ!

The best ribs I ever had were in a old building in Memphis. IIRC it was an old fire house (?) with the main seating downstairs and the upstairs used for banquets. I remember that the rear doors in an alleyway appeared closed and we walked away. Several seconds after we left, a man appeared a la a speakeasy or the gatekeeper of the Wizard of Oz and asked us if we were hungry. Apperently this was their 'regulars day' but since we made a special trip up from Ga we could be guests :) Oh, what ribs they were !

Us too, at least when Sikeston wouldn't suffice. When I was little, the nearest eye doctor was in Cape, so I would have to miss a whole day of school just to go to the eye doctor! I loved it.
Have you guys ever eaten at Lambert's in Sikeston...Home of the "throwed rolls'? YUM. Their chicken 'n' dumplins are yummy.

Thank you to all the new Orthodox members. This forum is really starting to take off. I encourage you to recruit new Orthodox members. I also hope to see more Orthodox members apply to become moderators in the future. *hint*hint* I'm Catholic and I'm moderating this forum. Eventually, I would like to have enough Orthodox mods so I can step down from this forum. for an Orthodox/Catholic reconciliation. God bless you all.

I feel the same way, I think they have done a very awesome job at communicating the truth faith that the apostles handed down to us. Thanks.

My dearest Photini:

My mom used to make the best chicken 'n' dumplins. Oh my! She had to make two pans or more of dumplins to satisfy five hungry children and my dad. And in the winter time when we had snow or cold rain, it really hit the spot.

Since we do fast more than half the year, have you a vegetarian variety of dumplins?

Lovingly in Christ,
Elizabeth

My dearest joy in Christ, Neal:

Christ is Risen!

In the literature courses I took in college, we discussed the concept of shape-shifters. This is a masonic idea, it appears. Nathanial Hawthorne's Young Goodman Brown has a classic shape-shifter figure who appears as a "fellow traveler", his father-figure, and possibly even his young wife. So I didn't want to call you a shape-shifter, but it does disturb me due to my exposure to this literary concept.

I also read a short story in Spanish, El hombre que parecía un caballo, written by Rafael Arévalo Martínez. This was spooky and I definitely don't recommend it. It has a very scary shape-shifter figure who is the antagonist of the story. This author, it appears, was into the occult. Do you now see why I don't like shape-shifters?

Hope you understand! Nothing personal!

Lovingly in Christ-God,

Elizabeth

If I appear to be antagonistic, I apologize. I want to be consistent, so if you wouldn't mind, PM or email me where we can talk.

Thanks,

Neal

My Dearest Neal:

My joy: Christ is Risen!

This is a good topic. I am not upset with you. How can I be? Christ's love radiates with your every message.

However, since you are so very much in love with Christ, a cartoon just doesn't go with your message. It's not consistent. . I like your current picture of the Blessed Virgin, and I also liked the Icon of St. John the Baptist.

Have you ever seen those cartoon images of St. Michael that are popular with Catholic youth? I am somewhat offended by them. Would you make a cartoon using a holy image of a saint or of Mary? Do you see the incongruity?

Now watch me get flamed by Jeff the Finn! Personally, the Football helmit becomes him! LOL

Lovingly your sister in Christ,
Elizabeth

Oh, the humanity!

Honey is for biscuits when you run out of white gravy!

Some are so easily led astray!

Besides, honey in BBQ spoils the taste of beer. Tangy BBQ complements beer. And what is BBQ without beer?

It's like a weekend in July without watermelon.

They let you in the backdoor 'cause you're from Georgia. If you'd been a Yankee, well . . .

Of course, if you had been a Tennessee native, they'd have let you in the front door!

My dearest Maximus,

What is that unique photo you have in your profile?

I sent you a post in the Holy Mysteries Thread -- have you had time to look? (Late night catechism)

Your sister in Christ,
Elizabeth

My photo? Which one am I? Have you figured it out yet?

Actually, that's a very old photo of three Russian Cossacks having chai (tea) made with water heated in a samovar. I thought it was cool, so I stuck it in there.

I haven't seen the other post as of posting this.

I haven't had (real) BBQ in so long. Since I moved away from my little SEMO town, I haven't seen another person put honey on their biscuits...I talked to a childhood friend of mine that still lives around that area the other day....maybe it's time to visit her. (And not just for the BBQ.)

My dearest Juke:

Christ is in our midst!

It got really sticky here when the humidity of that Corpus Christi hurricane blew over to our area. That's ususual for us but we do get moisture from the Gulf of Mexico at times.

Your sister in Christ,
Elizabeth

P.S. Thank you for all your help this morning.
