• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Because it seems so senseless in design.
Some of these questions - about life, existence, the universe, etc. - are definitely hard to grapple with. It sounds like you're a deep thinker! In what ways does the universe seem senseless to you?

I don't understand the question.

Well I don't want him! He can take his planet (His universe) and stick it where the light will always shine.

I'm asking why you're angry with God. You said He could stick His planet where the sun always shines. To say something like that, there must be some underlying dislike towards something. Is it the concept of God that bothers you?

Ahh, it's freedom you're after.

Did you know the truth will set you free? John 8:31-32 Jesus is the Truth. He will set you free.

And Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Cor. 3:17

God is not trying to enslave us. He is actually setting boundaries (aka commandments) that are for our own good. He knows if we sin, it's not the best for us. Just like a parent setting a rule not to touch the hot stove, He's trying to protect us. In the case of Jesus Christ's gift, He's telling us to receive Jesus' gift, not to trap us, but to free us. Freedom that the world offers is death. Freedom that God gives is life. If we try to fight against God, we will lose no question. But if we accept His gift, we have gotten what is far better than gold or 4000 billion dollars: we get eternal life and so much more.

If there is, it hasn't told me, and I am getting sick of asking. Tell me now! Or must I die first?
I mean, from my viewpoint as a Christian, I believe that belief in God is vital to having a purpose for living. As I develop a relationship with God, He fills me with a deep joy and peace, and a love for Him and others. I find fulfillment in learning to be truly His, which in turn makes me more truly myself. And I believe that as I allow Him to lead me, He reveals to me purposes that He has for my life - tasks that He has for me to do, ways that I can love and serve others and make a difference in the world.

This quote from Augustine sums it up for me, I guess: "You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless, until they can find rest in you."

Why would knowing the truth give me freedom in a world of humans who have created a society based on their blindness and refusal to accept that truth? I'd be like an alien to the world, would I not?

You absolutely would be alien-like. But you'd have sight and you could see that sadly that society you just left was and is marching happily and blindly towards an erupting volcano. Would you rather die eternally in Hell because you wanted to do your own thing and feel safe, or would you rather take the priceless gift and rewards and spend eternity in heaven, which means you have to face a little suffering now on Earth compared to what the blind people will suffer for all eternity?

Christianity isn't the easy way, but it's the most rewarding way and it's the way that will spare you from eternal damnation. Salvation is more than just avoiding punishment: God gives us new life and a great purpose and we have eternal riches for the good we do, not that those works buy us salvation or anything, but they're wages for good work on Earth.

When you try to save your life on earth and do what you want as your own king, you will lose your life. But if you give your life in service to God, making Him your King, then you will find life. It's a strange concept, right? But it's true.

Alright this is the last thing I am going to say. Unless human beings give up their belief habits, then they are going to become extinct just like the dinosaurs.

Sir, I will continue to pray for you that God opens your eyes. You are very welcome into Christ's arms at any time. I just pray you take Him up on His gift before it's too late. I am truly hoping you will. Thank you for being willing to talk with me.

I know what you mean. I feel exactly the same way about my daughter. It is her who inspires me to become something better than what the world offers me to be.
I pray that you can find the purpose and peace you are looking for. If there is something specific you'd like prayer for, please feel free to let me know.
