A crime problem, yet there have been times where there were MORE violent crime. The difference is that today news travels faster, but in reality most people never engage in gun violence. There are 300 million guns if legal gun owners in the USA were the problem we would know it.

So very fortunate i did not have to use it.
Terrible
But i would for sure, if i had it with me that time
coz that was way worst.

Ok .. let me rephrase this way .. what gave you an idea that I am ok with you deciding which government is violating constitutional rights and which government is not. I don’t want anyone to overthrew any government with guns, if you can’t solve the problem at ballot box , then you don’t belong in this democracy. "2nd amendment well regulated militia" worked in 17th century, they don’t belong in 21st century.
Why?

Nobody is proposing to take rights away. What if they eliminate the ballot box? Would it then be appropriate to rebel?

The thing is the guns are already out there 300 million of them. enough for every man woman and child in the US. I would rather law-abiding citizens have the ability to access firearms because criminals are going to have them already. I want to be able to defend my family should things get crazy outside (like a riot for example).

Plus I think the threat of all these guns should keep any politician from trying to become a dictator.

America has the oldest democracy in the world. We have been practicing democracy for past 250 years. I not interested in “ what if they take out ballot box” idea from people who are running around with AR-15 and think they are ‘defender of democracy”

You want “law-abiding citizens” have guns? Who decide who is criminal and who is law-abiding citizens? 4 guys in GA thought Ahmaud Arbery is a criminal. I think Kyle Rittenhouse is a criminal. Would it be ok , if I go to Kyle Rittenhouse neighborhood and shoot him on site and claim self-defense because I “think” he is criminal.

Entire concept of 2nd amendment belongs in 17th century.

Kyle Rittenhouse has been found to have acted in self defense by a jury of his peer ( who had all the facts). As such he has been found not to be a criminal. The people in GA have been found to be criminal based on the facts presented to a jury of their peers.

Believe me I understand where you are coming from. I was against guns for a long time. How one decided who is a criminal is do a background check. If they have a felony, they can't purchase a firearm. If a law-abiding citizen pulls a gun on you, they are no longer law-abiding. In that situation, you can tell they are a criminal because they pulled a gun on you.

The 3 murderers did commit a criminal act and they got convicted. That is a situation where a law-abiding citizen turned criminal. Rittenhouse got his weapon from a straw buyer, an illegal act on both the buyer and the seller. Neither situation was right.

I wonder if we ban the sale of guns. Is that what you would prefer? A total ban? Would you also disarm people who currently have guns? What would be your solution for the guns already in circulation? What happens in some European countries is that only criminals and cops have guns. A citizen is either out of luck or needs to wait for the police after the crime is committed.

I believe I have the right to stop someone from harming me or my family. LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I would prefer a gun-free society but there is too much out there already.

Sometimes if a convicted felon pulls a gun and uses it in self defense/defense of others the DA may or may not charge them ( and if they do they will not charge them with the justified homicide. Even if they did charge them if they made it to trial some juries may even find them not guilty given the motive.

but I can promise that there still is violent crime. If not guns and people want to hurt you badly enough they will find other means and sometimes those means can be even more fatal than guns.

I used to own a bunch of guns. I ended up in a situation where I could not store them so I end up having my lawyer dispose of them.

After 5 or so years of being gun-free, I became more sympathetic to the gun control crowd. I had no guns but I felt pretty safe anyway with 911 only minutes away, where I live so easy for police to mop up the criminals.

Recently I heard a question asked.....Who do you call when the police are criminals? Then I read a quote by Washington the said (paraphrase) There should be a rebellion every 20 years or so.

That made me think of the context the Constitution was written in. We need law-abiding citizens to own guns because we have a right to self-defense. Whether it's from a criminal or a totalitarian government, we need to be able to overthrow the government if need be. That is what Washington was saying.

I don't think we are anywhere near the point where we need to rise up, but we need to be able to if we get some Fascist in office suspends the Constitution or tries to dissolve our rights.

We have 2,000 laws about guns. No more gun laws......Agree or disagree......

Discuss.........
Disagree. As a Christian, I don't care what founding fathers; and other man-made ideas are unless they are aligned with God's Word. If God moves the government to create more gun laws in order to govern us as His Ministers of Justice for our good then there should be those more laws.

These things are not a mystery when we follow God's Word, which is 100% perfect.

So your argument is – there are too many guns , so lets have more guns. Your argument is we have too many school shooting , murder, because of guns , so lets have more guns!

Except that very few gun deaths are the result of random shootings. In fact most kill no one but the shooter.

Such as???
what do you mean? abortion laws, gay marriage, being drunk ( in many cases is not illegal either unless there are certain other factors with it. There is nothing lawfully to keep people over a certain age from sex with whomever they wish ( as long as that other people is at or above the age of consent as well.

Pretty much yeah. We need guns in the hands of the right people. School shooters etc get their guns illegally. More laws won't stop that. It will only stop legitimate buyers.

Guns make murder easier but guns themselves don't cause people to murder.
