I came to say good bye

I am confused. What verses do people use to back up believing the trinity or not believing in the trinity? I was brought up believing that yes we do worship one God but he is in 3 persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Am I missing something? (NOTE!: Please PM as I understand this is not a debate thread, I just want to know each side)
