To let you all know, I am a Christian. I have accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Without Him, I cannot be saved. He accepted my sins in the Garden of Getsemene, and died on the cross, and has paid the price. I know that if I repent of my sins, and pray to Him for forgiveness, He will wash away my sins, and I will be saved. I believe in God, Christ and the Holy Ghost. I am ever grateful for the guidance they have given to me, and for the many blessings that they have bestowed on me. Words cannot begin to express my gratitude.

God Bless,
Emerald Dragon

"Some ("holier-than- thou" students) begin to pray directly to Christ because of some special friendship they feel has been developed. In this conception a current and unwise book, which advocates gaining a special relationship with Jesus, contains this sentence - quote: "Because the Saviour is our mediator, our prayers go through Christ to the Father, and the Father answers our prayers through his son. " Unquote. This is plain sectarian nonsense. Our prayers are addressed to the Father, and to him only. They do not go through Christ...You have never heard the First Presidency or the Twelve...advocate this excessive zeal that calls for gaining a so called special and personal relationship with Christ...never, never at any time have they taught or endorsed the inordinate and intemperate zeal that encourages endless, sometimes day-long prayers, in order to gain a personal relationship with the Saviour...I wonder if it is not part of Lucifer's system to make people feel they are special friends of Jesus when in fact they are not following the normal and usual pattern of worship found in the true Church." (Bruce McConkie, Speech at BYU on March 2 1982).

Well....Jesus is our mediator:
Hebrews 9
15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

We are told to ask in his name:
John 14
13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

We are told to pray without ceasing:
1 Thessalonians 5
17 Pray without ceasing.

We are his friends:
John 15
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Jesus gave His live for us. That is special, but it doesn't stop there. We are told to abide in Him. If that isn't a special relationship, I don't know what is.

John 15
I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Just a quick note, Wrigley. Mormonism didn't even exist until 1830. You might want to correct your signature. Or maybe you could change it to say something positive about your own beliefs. ;)
Which of the four or five "first vision" stores of Joseph's myth would then be negated by this comment? The "vision" appeared in the 1820's and Joe and friends began the "translation" of the book of mormon before they incorporated in 1830. Wrigley is correct. :sigh:

The gospel unites Christs followers in brotherhood, so welcome to the brotherhood of Christ.
May you love God with all your heart, mind , soul and strength and love your brother as you love yourself. This is the love that glorifies God in heaven and brings peace and good will to earth.
Don't be discouraged by all the disputing and critizism being tossed around. Rise above it and live in harmony with one another.

Why are you so quick to throw out sharp critizisms towards a new brother in Christ.
You are able to see the errors of others but are blind to your own.

You are joking, right? hon, the mormons use the same terminology we Christians do BUT the intent and meaning are radically different. Their Jesus is an ascended man (as is their God) from another planet who were given this planet as a playtoy. They are part of a FOUR God (three gods and a muteeternally pregnant goddess) pantheon. At best, the mormons are henotheistic. :sigh:

Are you really that gullible? Have you done ANY independent study on mormonism, or are you just buying everything the missionaries are selling you?

According to mormon doctrine, the atonement of Christ (incidentally they highlight Gethsemane rather than the crucifixion and resurrection) was ONLY to handle sins AFTER the person "did all they could do" or Christ is like Overdraft protection on a checking account. That is Not MY Jesus

That is not the Jesus I love and worship either. The Jesus I owe everything to was not the brother of Satan either.

I don't hold to many of their teachings but I accept them as brothers and sisters in Christ.
We call God our Father and claim to be children of one family. Yet sharp criticisims are thrown out at one another, and at the same time the very ones who throw out these criticisims are blind to their own failings. Others can see their errors, but they cannot see their own mistakes. Too many Christrians are at strife with one another like quarrelsome children. It's no wonder "outsiders" see Christianity and are so unattracted to it.

Which teachings do you hold with the mormons? Jesus and satan brothers?

God was a man who progressed to godhood? That faith alone does not save?

That you are saved by faith only after you've done all you can do?

You need to grow spirtually, you are honestly scaring me. I'll be praying for your growth.

Hear, hear. Amen, repentandbelieve.
Let's focus on the Love of Christ and the Love God and your neighbour rule that unite all of us. Let's try, it can be just for a moment, to start between us the peace the World needs.

Mormons, JW, adventists, gnostics, catholics, protestants, anglicans, neopentecostals,non-denominational, orthodox ... aren't we all united here in this forum in His name?

In this case, let's honour His Presence
...the rest is the rest

The mormon is not my brother in Christ.

The jw is not my brother in Christ.

The gnostic is not my brother in Christ.
