Maybe if you studied the overall timeline of life on Earth for the last 3.5 billion years it might start to make more sense to you. Hint: The first 3 billion years aren't too thrilling, things don't really kick off until about 500 million years ago.

Interesting. But doesn't that imply there is an advantage to a smaller brain or a disadvantage to a larger brain?

I think it's to do with lack of selection for individuals surviving in a fiercely hostile environment. Only the very fastest and smartest will survive to breed; in the case of humans that presumably will be those with the largest brains. As soon as environmental selection is removed then the gene pool is no longer being weeded out every generation and the selection for larger brains relaxes leading to a slow diminution in size. I'd have to refer back to the article, which I don't have on me at the moment, but I think that was roughly the argument.

Carbon 14 is CONSTANTLY PRODUCED in the atmosphere, so NO, all carbon would NOT be gone.

To have a real debate anya, would require you to have a minimum level of knowledge in regards to evolution. This is something, you clearly do not possess, judging by the commenta and questions you have.

You have seen the content of the responses to you on various levels and now, it is up to you to learn enough about the topics to make discussion worthwhile. Trying to gather knowledge by refuting evidence you dont understand to begin with, is not what i would call learning.

You're ignorant, Anya. That's the truth, and it's not insult - we're all ignorant, to some degree. I know nothing about quantum physics. If I read anything about it, it makes no sense to me.

However, I'm not dismissing quantum physics because I don't understand it. I wouldn't call it silly. I wouldn't question people who specialize in it, because I have humility. You lack this humility, and for that you will be judged, and rightly so.

No I don't think you are stupid, far from it. I do think that you are uneducated in the subject that is being discussed which is evolution and the age of the earth.

I feel it to be proper to judge people when they assert an argument but clearly don't have the knowledge to understand even the basics.

Ignorance is OK, we are all ignorant of a lot of things but that is fixable with work.

One problem however, and may be what you are running into, is that learning can challenge one's beliefs and that can be uncomfortable to say the least and can result in our not wanting to look at the evidence.

Here is the bottom line; if you are stuck on a literal interpretation of the bible and will never accept any evidence that goes against that, then trying to learn legit science will only cause you internal turmoil, because a literal interpretation does not jive with the empirical evidence.

So, if that turmoil is something you dont want to face, just rely on the bible and forget about science.

Did i ever say you were stupid? Not in the least, i said your knowledge of the subject at hand is sorely lacking and it also appears your beliefs are getting in the way to learn objective information.

Emperical evidence doesn't jive with the story of human evolution. I ask for more evidence in support of this theory.
