This demonstrates how little you understand Christianity and it appears you make no effort to understand. Yes, there are stories of incest and fornication in the Bible. No one denies that. The purpose is to show people what not to do, and also show that God can use you for his plan even if you are a sinner. What is so terrible about that?

To conclude that by reading those examples in the Bible is somehow going to make them acceptable and permissible in a Christian's mind is simply illogical. I most certainly have not arrived at such a conclusion. Besides, there are countless occurances in the Bible where such actions are specifically stated to be SIN.

Huh, I obect to this comment LightOfEyes. Western society is SECULAR it is not religious. Christians are allowed to worship their God in a secular society, unlike Islamic countries where Christians can not worship their God freely.

Hugs are the go.. I hug all my platonic female friends, close male friends (with appropriate back-slapping, so as not to be "gay" ), and some female acquaintances. I find shaking hands with a woman/girl to be really awkward and stiff, so hugging even girls who I'm not that close to is the go. Of course, I'm not dodgy about it or anything. I don't see it as a sexual thing at all, I mean really, it's just a hug. Any man who is really, erm.. excited by a hug is probably a lost cause anyway...

And your proof is located where? You are making generalizations that have no basis in fact. They cannot be applied to all westerners, let alone all Christians. You my friend, have been deceived by a teller of lies.

First of all, western society is secular. Not everyone is a Christian. In fact, there are very few born again Christians. Many state they believe in God or are Christian, but that is often more of a cultural identity rather than a true belief.

If you want to make judgements about Christianity, look at Christ and his teachings. He is who we follow. You will only find disappointment by looking at man for he is imperfect and fallible.

What is the point of Song of Solomon and such tantalizing words? It is a love story between Solomon and his wife. It shows couples a healthy marriage. In the book, we see their courtship, their marriage, and their relationship. In it, there are ups and downs, but in the end, the two remain true and committed to each other. It is a guide, plain and simple.

Sex within marriage is not dirty. It is a beautiful act that was created by God for our benefit. The descriptive words show that it is good and proper for one to feel that way about one's spouse. In the past, many have tried to corrupt marital sex in the name of religion. They said that it was a dirty act and should only be done for the sake of procreation. This book shows that God intended otherwise. He wants us to enjoy the marriage bed. What is so terrible about that?

Again, your proof? Give me a reputable source. Until then, your claims have no creditbility and those who read them will just roll their eyes or shake their head.

Prove to me that they are adulterers due to the stories found in the Bible. As I told you before, the stories serve as an example to believers on proper and improper ways to behave.

A secular society is one that it not bound by religious law or have a compulsory religion. People are free to believe however they choose. Some here are Christians, some Jews, some Hindus, Muslims, and even atheists. Our society does not follow Christian laws or Jewish laws or Hindi laws, so you cannot blames the ills of western society on any one religion. The religion has nothing to do with it.

My neighbors are very respected college students..a ver smart man and a very pretty lady..Living together but not married..i am really surprised how this lady and how this man expose themselves to each other and live together and have sex without being married..West needs to wake up my friend..

I have Moslem relations, and most of them are uncomfortable with physical contact, because of their faith. However, they understand that I am Western, and that I am comfortable with (some) physical contact, and so there is a compromise.

I nod to them when saying hello, and they, if they feel able to, will put out their hand, to shake hands. And if they offer, then I am happy to shake hands. This is both men and women, linked to me through a family marriage. We use family terms for one another, to acknowledge that we are related, and not strangers.

I think we need to accept that Moslems and Christians are always going to have different ways of looking at life, and that we need to compromise at times. Not in terms of our principles or values, but at times perhaps in our strictest behaviours, in order to achieve connection.

I would say to the Moslem brothers on this thread that I have a very close male friend who is not related to me. I have known him for about seven years now, and he is like a brother to me, and both he and I behave exactly as if that were our relationship, because as Christians, that is what we are. It took me about three years to be able to give and accept a hug from him, and perhaps another year after that to accept a kiss on the cheek. It is still not easy for me because of issues in my past, but I am learning to trust him, and through him to trust many other things about myself.

I told him many years ago, that if I ever did anything that he thought a sister of his would not do, to tell me, as I did not want him to be uncomfortable in my presence. I have always followed that rule, and we are both happy in the fellowship we have together, which is one of the greatest blessings of my life.

I visit him and we spend time working (I help him with his ministry admin), or watching tv, or whatever. In seven years we have once been to the pictures together, and once to the theatre. None of this is what anyone could remotely call dating, nor is there anything but friends who could be brother and sister spending time together.

I think that Islam loses a great deal by not believing a relationship like this is possible. It is possible, and there is no immorality anywhere in it. Honi soit qui mal y pense.

My own view is that, if Our Lady had such a friend, she would have been able to hug him in greeting, rather more easily than I can, and that would not compromise her sanctity in any way.
