i dont know who muslem people are as they wear haji and then i associate the colour with that person and it gets confusing.

That would be Muslim, with a capital M.

From what I understand, true Islam is fairly socially conservative, and economically liberal; because although other religions say you should be nice to your peers and such, Islam practically mandates giving help to the needy. When I've read the Qu'ran, it seems to pracitcally make some socialistic policys LAW.

Unfortunately, sister AlHannah, it seems as if you have fallen into one of those nasty little snares of believing that a misconception and a stereotype about Muslims is true. Quite unfortunate indeed.

As brother yaqov explained, of course situations may arise when men and women must come into contact with one another. Any emergency will allow some form of interaction between the genders in order to rectify the problem. Then again some type of medical purpose will warrant some type of touching as well.

For instance, I must see a chiropractor a few times a week for back rehabilitation, and his assistants are all female who must massage and minipulate my spine to adjust it. As long as neither myself nor the assistants attempt any wrongdoing, it is ok.

Have you read that book "Not without my Daughter"? It was an interesting observation that this author made about her life in Iran. On one occasion a woman (a friend of hers I think) was seeing a doctor and was on the doctor's bed (or whatever). Here this Muslim woman was, with all her gear off, except her jolly headscarf. How absurd is that? And in the same country she observed woman who were breastfeeding, would just go and expose their breasts right in public. Gee, here even in the West we'd get a few odd glances for doing that sort of thing in public and we're used of immodesty (but I'm not saying breastfeeding is immodest BTW). I dunno, there just seems to be an ironic dichotomy here. Anyway I think this thread is about hugs in Islam so I don't know how I got on to that.

In Islam woman + man = sex and not friendship.

A man can not be a friend with a woman in Islam.

If a muslim woman will go to a coffe with a male friend of hers she will be called a **** and eventually be accused of adultery.

This does not surprise me as the Quran was written by a man who was obsessed with the opposite sex, a man who had more then 30 sex partners( wifes and slaves) and a 9 year old bride.

where in london are you from? i live there to and i never see women walking around topless?? unless by exposing breasts you mean wearuing a low cutting top like a string vest in the summer time, or a bikini for siun bathing in the park, i dont consider that 'exposing ones breasts'. if its hot and people dont have gardens to sunbathe in, why not go to the park? i wear low cutting tops in the summer because its HOT. not to show off my body. sex doesnt enter my mind. i want to be comfortable in the hot weather.

I am from East London but often in north London too parents live in the north of London.I did not say people walk around topless I said in the parks when summer time comes it is topless sunbathing time. Most often you find westerners going to other countries too and going topless there so is that immodesty as lady hannah Mentioned. Like I said breast feeding is a must but exposing ones body in the park or beach is not and cannot be considered modest.At least the woman who is breast feeding is clothed and often covers the exposed breast too so only the child can be fed.This is different from women walking around the beaches and sitting in parks half naked.

This demonstrates how little you understand Christianity and it appears you make no effort to understand. Yes, there are stories of incest and fornication in the Bible. No one denies that. The purpose is to show people what not to do, and also show that God can use you for his plan even if you are a sinner. What is so terrible about that?

To conclude that by reading those examples in the Bible is somehow going to make them acceptable and permissible in a Christian's mind is simply illogical. I most certainly have not arrived at such a conclusion. Besides, there are countless occurances in the Bible where such actions are specifically stated to be SIN.

Context! I believe you are referring to Song of Solomon 8:1 which says, "Oh that you were like a brother to me Who nursed at my mother's breasts. If I found you outdoors, I would kiss you; No one would despise me, either."

This passage in no way refers to incest, fornication, or any inappropriate premarital contact. To understand what is going on here, on must first understand a little bit about Song of Solomon. This is a love story about King Solomon and his Bride the Shulamite. The book has a linear timeline and their wedding is described from 3:6 to 5:1. At the point that yaqovzadeek refers to, verse 8:1, the two are already married. Any sexual contact the two have is perfectly acceptable.

Then why does the bride wish Solomon was her brother? I found an online commentary which suggests that the social custom of the time frowned on public affection between non-blood-relatives.

As i told you before..Muslim women follow mother Mary since we believe that she is the most honorable lady that came to the face of earth..She used to cover her hair, muslim women do so..She used to dress in modesty, muslim women do so..I do not think mother mary was hugging her male friends assuming that she already have male friends..
