  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is wrong with hugging. A good hug can make you feel great.....
They can also make you feel uncomfortable

Although, I've never known a guy to turn down a hug from an attractive lady
unless his wife/GF was standing right next to him

Hmmm...if he wouldn't hug the woman in front of his GF/wife, then he probably shouldn't be hugging her at all...

I'm very space concious. I don't like to hug everyone. I'll hug any kid that wants to hug me; but i see that as different as hugging adults. I have no problems hugging my family or even friends. But i don't care about hugging people i barely know; especially if it's a guy. If he wants a hug then he needs to get to know me otherwise i don't want a stranger or even an aquantiance in my space.

I tend to avoid it whenever possible, although I put up with it when my close family does it. I naturally flinch away when someone hugs me, which puts us both in a kind of awkward situation.

Of course, this mentality tends to leave me starved for human contact, but it's not on my top list of things to get over.

way down deep in my core, I'm a hugger.

I know this because after two beers I can look around the room and see the good in everyone.

After the third, I want to hug everyone.

Especially you that's reading this post right now.

I voted "friends and family". I'm not gonna hug someone I just met 5 minutes ago! rofl. But I hug my family and extended family and my friends. My cousin brought her fiance to a family reunion and I hugged him even though I'd only met him once before, but he's about to be family, you know? But it also has to do with how the other person feels. I mean, if I would be comfortable hugging the person, but it's pretty clear that the other person wouldn't be comfortable hugging me, then I won't. hehe. ;)

hard to answer. voted "family and friends".
I'm not into hugging, but when the occasion arises I do. Upon first meeting me, for some reason people like to hug me, more than others?????

I've also hugged strangers. There was a man collecting money for a thanksgiving dinner for his family, I got a certificate from a quizinos and hugged him and asked for those he wanted prayer for.

Hugging is hard is sometimes hard, but I just do it. Just like saying I love you at the end of every goodbye with my family.

yeah..someone might not want to be touched...but sometimes if you see that person could USE a hug. I don't think we should let our fears get the best of what could make someone's day you know..

I know I said differently earlier but I just thought of what only hugging family and friends can hurt the world we create around us.

Very very true! I would be comfortable hugging a person if it looked like they needed a hug. And I have actually done so a couple of times. Only time I wouldn't be comfortable is if it was a guy and he would read more into the hug than just a friendly comforting hug. You know? :o It just depends on if you're comfortable and if the other person is comfortable. Good point, Rifle5k. ;)

rifle5k, if I remember right your not in a country that's very huggy. It's kind of wierd, I've done it with those I was close to saying goodbye to them, otherwise bows were most preferred or handshakes.
