  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Back in 2005 Robert Reich, a visiting professor at the UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy and former U.S. Secretary of Labor talked about the inequality of income, wealth and opportunity in the United States and asked his audience to speculate on what will happen if these trends continue.

Thus gun control to remove guns out of the ghettoes for they are replaced with non taxable illegals.
We created the ghetto for manual labor and now that we are through with it (this our own creation) a disarming is immanent for we fear our creation of Frankenstein . The dollar has no morality and has no problem in living in double standards either. Of course the media will pin prick an issue blow it up in a false reason to disarm so we the people "Feel" better in our double standard that our monster must be subdued but lost is we created our monster .
BTW RIECH for President!!!

So this professor is basically telling the poor that it's okay to be envious.
Indulge in your envy, even though you get some, they get a lot more, and therefore your envy is justified.

This video is disgusting. Rather figuring out and teaching people to morally not be envious, he teaches people their envy is correct.

If it gets too out of whack it will create revolts, which almost always ends badly. A lot of hardline socialism comes out of capitalism getting out of control. It is pretty what Marx predicted, except he thought communism would come about, not the state owned monstrosities that have popped up in history.

We need to reign things in or it will cause a backlash that will rubber band us into an even worse economic system.

Or we need to teach people not to be envious.
Envy is an innate part of humanity, and goes in hand with a sense of fairness.

Our problem isn't the envy of the poor, but rather the wealthy, who have conspired with lawmakers to continuously increase their share of the wealth to the point where it is now impacting our economy negatively.

The fact that someone down the road might have more money than me doesn't effect me in the slightest. Focus on your own life and don't worry about what others have and you'll me much happier.

Did you even watch the video?

Do you believe he was lecturing to the poor at Berkeley?

Berkeley costs about $32,646 per year.

That means that a 4 year degree from Berkeley costs about $130,584.

ADD ON: Which means one guy has billions of UN TAXABLE income overseas but made the billions here.

Move to Cuba if you want income equality.

Not income , TAX equality

This explains why Obama likes to use "fairness" as a weapon that goes hand in hand with envy. Feed the envy of the people to get what you want.

Expect, functioning under the premise of the lecture, everyone is getting rich, your neighbor is just getting even more richer, faster.

So it's not that you get a pay cut, or you get run out of business,
It's that you get a 1 dollar raise, while your neighbor gets a 10 dollar raise.
It's not that you get run out of business, it's that your business grows at 2% while your neighbor grows at 20%.

Cry me a river.
