Question on, Matt.27:52-52. "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after His (Christ's) resurrection, and went into the holy city (Jerusalem) and appeared unto many."
2 Timothy 2:24-25
(24) And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, (25) in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,

Why the graves should be opened on Friday, and the bodies not be raised to life till the following Sunday, is difficult to be conceived. The place is extremely obscure. TSK

Christ was dead and in the Grave 3 1/2 days.

1Co 15:23
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Ps 6:4-5
Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

Eph 4:8-10
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Zep 3:13-20
The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.
Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.

Ps 139:8 ASV
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there.

Rom 14:9
For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

Luke 20:38
For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Joh 3:13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, eventhe Son of man which is in heaven.
Eph 2:1
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come:
Eph 2:6
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Mark 4:11
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

Luke 10:11
Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

Matt 6:26-30
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. (Matthew 4:23)
Luke 13:32-33
And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

Mat 6:10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Matt 12:28
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Luk 19:11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
Luke 13:34-35
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Psa 72:19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

Allusions in Revelation from Old Testament

Rotherham) Isaiah 6:3 And they continued crying out one to another and said, Holy--holy--holy, is Yahweh of hosts,--the fulness of the whole earth is His glory.

Rotherham) Revelation 4:8 and the four living creatures, each one of them have severally six wings round about and within, full of eyes;
and they cease not, day and night saying--Holy! holy! holy! Lord God the Almighty,--Who was, and Who is, and Who is coming.

Then you better read the what the SCRIPTURES saith! Why would you have need to have your name written in the Book of Life if it has already been attained?

Philippians 4:3-4
(3) And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. (4) Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

Then your error is in not reading the Greek Manuscripts which do not contain the words, "hath he quickened". Are you better than David?

Mat 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are you not rather of value than they?

Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Psalm 132:13-17 reads, "For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation:

Are you reading what you're quoting?

The Scripture says 'are' written, not 'will be' written.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

Then your error is in not reading the Greek Manuscripts which do not contain the words, "hath he quickened". Are you better than David?
Heb 11:40
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Acts 2:33
Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

John 17:23
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

1 Cor 3:16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Rom 6:3-11
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, the Son of man which is in heaven.

Act 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
Heb 11:39-40
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Eph 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

1 Cor 3:1
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

Gal 5:17
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Eph 5:8-10
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; ) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Gal 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Col 3:
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Gal 5:24
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Phil 1:20-21
According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God
Phil 3:20-21
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

2 Pet 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
IS, is, is our Life.

Not 'will be' our life, but IS!!!

1 John 1:2
(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us; )

Luk 10:11 Even the dust of your city, which cleaves to us on the feet, do we shake off against you; but know this, that the kingdom of God is drawing near
Luke 10:11 KJV
Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

Perfect
The perfect tense in Greek corresponds to the perfect tense in English, and describes an action which is viewed as having been completed in the past, once and for all, not needing to be repeated.

Deu 30:14 For the word is very near to thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
Deut 30:11-14
For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Rom 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Heb 5:13-14
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

1 Cor 15:25-26
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Rom 13:11-14
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Luke 13:34-35
Joh 7:34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
John 14:18
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Rev 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Isa 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Ps 20:7-8
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.

He-man, what translation are you quoting from?

Would you mind referencing the translations please?
For first you are quoting from one translation and then another (as it suites your theology?);

Philippians 4:3-4
(3) And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

When you successfully edit your post to reflect the translation, I will respond A.S.A.P.
For, as it seems, you are translating from the Greek yourself.

Thanks.

Heman seems also to have been a man of spiritual power; is called "the king's seer in matters of God"(1 Chronicles 25:5 2 Chronicles 35:15).

My error, it does not have ARE or the word IS. [CODEX SINAITICUS]

Heman seems also to have been a man of spiritual power; is called "the king's seer in matters of God"(1 Chronicles 25:5 2 Chronicles 35:15).
1 Chronicles 25:5
(All these were sons of Heman the king’s seer. They were given him through the promises of God to exalt him. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.)

2 Chronicles 35:15
The musicians, the descendants of Asaph, were in the places prescribed by David, Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun the king’s seer. The gatekeepers at each gate did not need to leave their posts, because their fellow Levites made the preparations for them.

You are a seer now? And your interpretation of the Holy Text is all there is?

1 Kings 22:23
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

"some as names" does not imply that they are written?

What about the Word of the Lord;

John 10:27-28
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 6:40
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Rev 19:13
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

1 Cor 4:6-8
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

Acts 10:34-35
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

So you believe its all been fulfilled,.........And so where is your Jesus that has returned, that the whole earth has witnessed coming on the clouds in Glory?

Hi Prophecy.
Go back to post # 537 for one individual's (myself) answer to that question. Then if there is something in that quote that you would like to discuss with me or anyone else who has posted and who holds the preterist position on Matthew 24, I would be happy to discuss with you.

I'm sorry thats about the worst hermeneutics I've ever encountered, The scripture is not in symbolic form, Its plainly written in literal easy to understand text, It is in unity with all prophetic text regarding the coming of Christ. your in the same boat as hymenaeus and Philetus(see 2 Timothy 2:17).....you have wandered away from the truth

Hozeh ("seer") also means "to see" or "to perceive," but is also used in reference to musicians. It is also used to describe a counselor or an advisor to a king. The Hebrew does not necessarily indicate that the person is a prophet, but rather an advisor—someone who has wisdom.
It means "one who has insight." Hence, the essential meaning in Greek is "interpreter."

Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Act 10:40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

Have you seen ten thousand Saints appear with Christ yet?

Jud 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

Deut 30:11-14 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but just out of curosity may I ask, how many interpretations of Matthew 24 have you ever encountered?

The scripture is not in symbolic form,

This might be a good starting point for a discussion between us. So, what then, would you say Jesus meant when he told his disciples that "wheresoever the carcase was there would the eagles be gathered together(verse 28), and how does this relate to verse 27 which reads: "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

Its plainly written in literal easy to understand text, It is in unity with all prophetic text regarding the coming of Christ

So that I may have more insight into your line of thinking, would you mind posting which books, which chapters and the verses within, that you feel are "prophetic text regarding the coming of Christ"? You don't need to copy and paste the scriptures themselves, just where they are located in our Bible.. Thanks.

So is it your interpretation that when someone says something like "it came straight from the horses mouth".....That now we need to determine what this horse symbolically means, and what symbolically came out of the horses mouth and what that means in conjunction with the scripture surounding it........Hmmm, I was curious how many interpretations of Mathew 24 do you think are correct?.......I think if you have an interpretation that symbolizes and spiritualizes more than what we plainly see written, then I would question why and how you could hermeneutically decide that was a correct interpretation

In other words, you have no idea what Jesus was talking about when he told his disciples this.

Now listen: You made the statement that in essence said that there was no symbolism in Matthew 24, when you said that it was written in "literal easy to understand text". So I will make my question plainer. Do you believe that verses 27 & 28 of the 24th chapter of Matthew are literal or symbolic?

Jesus was very consistent in his teachings and he did not just throw words and phrases into his discourses just to have something to fill in with. All of his statements meant something! So, what do you think he meant when he said, "For ( gar - a conjunction to express cause, explanation, inference or continuation.) as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be, For wheresoever the carcase is, there shall the eagles be gathered together." And please be specific with no more 'horse's mouth' wiggle waggle. Thanks

They are neither literal or symbolic, as I said they are figures of speech.....but why don't you tell me what you have interpreted them to mean and I will either agree or disagree
