How much of Matthew 24 is fulfilled

When Yeshua rose from the dead, He rose not as a spirit, but as a person with a physical body which could be seen.

After His resurrection, He presented Himself to His disciples saying, “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. “ Luke 24: 39.

His disciples watched Him ascend. That is, the disciples saw Jesus go away from them in His physical, touchable, seeable body.

The term presence and clouds both agree with this statement that Jesus will not be physical when he returns. The bible here says that you have been forewarned, that he will not be over there or here. " Do not believe it". Becasue he is not coming physically on the earth.
Jesus came to the earth to die for mankind , he does not have to do that again. Jesus is now ruling in the heavens, and it is only by the signs that you will know that he has taken over Satan's position. That is why the word presence is used, and clouds.

False Christs can make only a visible appearance. In contrast, Jesus’ presence will be invisible. It will occur during a frightful time in human history, as Jesus says: “The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light.” Yes, this will be the blackest period of mankind’s existence. It will be as if the sun were darkened during the daytime, and as if the moon did not give its light by night.
“The powers of the heavens will be shaken,” Jesus continues. He thus indicates that the physical heavens will take on a foreboding appearance. The heavens will not simply be the domain of birds, but they will be filled with warplanes, rockets, and space probes. The fear and violence will exceed anything experienced in previous human history.

But the quote was not about God's eye but about all the humans on earth at the time of His coming.. they shall see Him...

2 Peter 2:2 that YOU should remember the sayings previously spoken by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through YOUR apostles. 3 For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4 and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.

These one will not 'see' Jesus ( physically) that is why they asked this question. Because Jesus will arrive only in the heavens. These one do not 'see' the signs of his presence.
All these scriptures have to be in harmony to get the correct meaning.
Acts 1:9-11: “While they [Jesus’ apostles] were looking on, he was lifted up and a cloud caught him up from their vision. And as they were gazing into the sky while he was on his way, also, look! two men in white garments stood alongside them, and they said: ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus who was received up from you into the sky will come thus in the same manner as you have beheld him going into the sky.’” (Notice that this says “the same manner,” not the same body. What was the “manner” of his ascent? As verse 9 shows, he disappeared from view, his departure being observed only by his disciples. The world in general was not aware of what happened. The same would be true of Christ’s return.)

Matthew 24: 30 And then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send forth his angels with a great trumpet sound, and they will gather his chosen ones together from the four winds, from one extremity of the heavens to their other extremity. 32 “Now learn from the fig tree as an illustration this point: Just as soon as its young branch grows tender and it puts forth leaves, YOU know that summer is near. 33 Likewise also YOU, when YOU see all these things, know that he is near at the doors. 34 Truly I say to YOU that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away


Daniel 7:13 “I kept on beholding in the visions of the night, and, see there! with the clouds of the heavens someone like a son of man happened to be coming; and to the Ancient of Days he gained access, and they brought him up close even before that One

So this verse here in Daniel corresponds to Matt.24:30 where Jesus comes in the clouds, not to the earth. It also mentions that Jesus will come to Jehovah. ( they are two entities)


Isaiah 27: 13 And it must occur in that day that there will be a blowing on a great horn, and those who are perishing in the land of As‧syr′i‧a and those who are dispersed in the land of Egypt will certainly come and bow down to Jehovah in the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

This verse in Isaiah corresponds to Mat 24: 31 about blowing on a horn, so as to gather all his people to bow down to him. This is talking about this end time that his people will be together in all parts of the world ( from the four winds)

Mark 13:28 “Now from the fig tree learn the illustration: Just as soon as its young branch grows tender and puts forth its leaves, YOU know that summer is near.
This is the same as in verse 32 of Matthew 24:
It just means that when you see these signs you know the Jesus is coming. Just like you know summer is coming when the new leaves start to sprout.

Matthew 23:36 Truly I say to YOU, All these things will come upon this generation.
This corresponds to verse 34 in mat.24. So all these things occur in one short period of time.

A generation can mean a class of persons, that is, those characterized by certain qualities or conditions. The Bible speaks of “the generation of the righteous one” (Ps 14:5; 24:6; 112:2) and “a generation crooked and twisted,” “a generation of perverseness.” (De 32:5, 20; Pr 30:11-14)
So Jesus was using the word 'generation' with reference to humans whose lives would in some way be associated with the foretold events.—Mt 24.

Verses 1-6 are fulfilled. The rest is still future. Luke 21:12-24 fit in between Matthew 24:8 and 24:9.

There are many ways to look at the end of the age. I myself belive that it will come in a time when there is a great falling away into various forms of Antichrist heresies and godless cultivations of humanistic self righteousness. These things seem to be very apparent today! But they always have been! The bible states when the fullness of the Gentiles comes in, He will return. This i think is not so much a particalar time that God has in mind but rather an idea of when he believes this fullness is complete. He is working to save and bring to glory as many sons and daughter in each and every generation as possible. People are still repenting and therefore he is still saving. Will there come a time when people stop repenting? This may be an idication of the final hours. But this is only a guess on my part.
By the way what is an unrepentant Chiliast and a Inveterate Dunker?

An "unrepentant Chiliast" is one who in spite of the ancient condemnation of the Church of millenialism persists in the belief in a thousand year earthly reign of Christ; four-hundred years after Christ, the Church called millenialism the "heresy" of "Chiliasm".

An "inveterate dunker" is someone who is in the habit of immersing people in water for baptism rather than sprinkling or pouring. I am inveterate in the practice because that's the way I always do it.

I believe the world to which Christ will return will be radically different than it is now. When Jesus said "they will be eating, drinking, and giving in marriage", this was idiomatic for cannibalism, blood drinking and the corruption of the meaning of marriage, based upon what was the common belief among Jews of what the days of Noah were like. Yes, there will be a great falling away; christians betraying christians will be common. I believe all Christians everywhere will be faced with the very real prospect of their own martyrdom.

41. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

I am particularly interested in finding out where in the world 'two women grinding at a mill' can still be found.

If I am still waiting for Christ to return, and the world taking a 'radically different' turn will take place before He does return, where does that leave my hope that He could return at any time now?

Nowhere. That is why you should never bank on anyone's personal interpretation. Should someone make a "prediction", and my statement is an opinionated prediction, the only course of action we should take is, "I'll wait and see".

Oh, by the way, you do not think any women are grinding on mills anymore? Here's a pic of two contemporary women doing it. It will be with us to the end. Who knows? We might have to go back to doing this in the U.S. someday...

Perhaps a 'wait and see' attitude might be okay concerning some predictions. But if there is an obstacle such as was presented that would let one know that the prediction can not possibly come to pass, then a 'wait and see' attitude would be foolish.

No, I do not think that anywhere in the world today you will find women grinding at the same kind of grinding 'mill' that Jesus was talking about. I'm not sure that the one which is pictured is even a mill for grinding grain. If grain for bread is involved in the operation which is pictured, it would not be ground, but more like a crushed variety. Because a pointed wooden stick would not grind anything. (I'm not sure that the picture is one of a grinding stone, It sort of looks like a hollowed out log sitting on a stump to me.)

It might be good for us to have to go back to primitive methods of survival. Maybe then mankind would learn that in order to survive they must work together with, help, and love, their neighbor, and come to realize that without God they can do nothing. Maybe if that day comes, heaven and earth will touch, and there will be no barriers between the two realms.
