Proverbs 31:4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: 5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. 6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. 7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
in light of the above (and other) Biblical verses...
when does drunkenness become a sin??? when you can longer think at your full capacities? when you're over the legal limit? when you're just a little bit tipsy? when you can wake up the next morning with a hangover? when you can't walk straight? when you can do things and not remember them later? when you can do things you wouldn't normally do?
is it ok to drink enough that you no longer worry about any of life's problems and all seems good and OK, at least for the time being?
when the bible condemns drunkenness as a sin, is it talking about getting "a little bit tipsy" every now and again, or is it talking about habitual drunkenness, drunkenness as a way of life?
i personally don't drink alchohol (for a number of reasons, none of them necessarily religious), but am still interested in people's input.
thanks in advance for all your input!
