You know. I know this, that some people can sit around and quote Scripture and their pride in that shows as they quote Scripture while they pray. Is the Holy Spirit working in that? Usually not. Not from what I have seen. Their brains are so filled with the words that their is no room for correction or the Holy Spirit moving.
In itself, quoting Scripture can be excellent. But if it is not being used to glorify the Spirit of God, it is only flesh.

I used to jump around the bible reading a book here, a chapter there, but never realy had a good understanding of it. Then one day I sat down opened up my bible, and decided to read it from begining to end. I prayed for understanding before starting. After I finished it I understood it better than I ever had.

So I have read the entire Bible once, and am working on reading another version now. I feel now that when I do jump from one place to another while reading my bible I have a much better understanding about whatever it is I'm reading.

i went to a christian school when i was younger from age 2 - age 16. I also went to church 3 times a week during these years. So it is fair to say that i spent more time at church than alone. I think I have heard much more than i have actually read. This is not to say that i have actually heard the whole Bible from cover to cover either. I have noticed during my years in church (i am age 21 now) that almost all pastors or bible teachers like to tell the same stories over and over graining them in your mind.... (i digress) I started this new Bible study that encourages me to read my Bible more frequently and we are covering some intersting verses that are quite new to me. This is when i had the revelation that Teachers and Pastors pretty much stick to a format..... Which has its good and bad points to it.... :) well wutever hehe RAMBLE RAMBLE RAMBLE!!!!

I had to guess over 5 times.

Cover to cover 3 times alone

Writen/Chron order 2 1/2 times with different studies each time.

Other orders in thematic or misc studies 2 times.

And who knows in my standart bounce reading.

How did I read it that many times? I'm a fast reader by nature I guess. I got that from my father though I'm not as fast as he was, it took me at my fastest over a month for cover to cover. He could do it in a week.

I'm struggling through it for the first time. The method i seem to take is when i finish one book i flick thruogh and start the next one i like the look of. I started with the four gospels. Though i have just restarted them and am taking them a lot slower this time. it will be a while b4 i finish the whole bible.

I think it's about 5 times. For about 3 to 4 years I followed a schedule to read through the bible in one year. Since then I participated at a bible seminar where I had to read through it again. So it might be up to 5 times.
Several parts I read more often, for example the Proverbs. They have 31 chapters, that's one chapter a day and you read through in within a month. I did that for a while and I will do it again. This book is full of practical wisdom and guidance. I read that book now for more than 20 times, but it still seems, that there is so much more to learn in that book.
