im afraid of heights below 30 feet - any height where i know i'll likely break something or be crippled for the rest of my life. above about 30 feet, i get strangely brave - think im more scared of being disabled than of dying... i know where im headed in that case :)

Up until a little over a year ago, I was extremely terrified of heights. But then my high school did its spring musical (we did Footloose). I was dance ensemble and for one song/dance I had to climp a rope hanging over the very front of the stage (it was off to one front corner of the stage). So I had to climb up to a height of about 9 feet (that is where my feet were, not my hands) and then holding on with just my hands, push off the wall and swing around with my feet help out behind me (and other cool poses). I was freaked the first time I had to do it in rehersal, but then it was so fun, I've actually gotten over my fear of heights.

I'm not too bad with heights, but I'm not really comfortable with them. I'm fine in planes or tall buildings where I know there's no way to fall, but I get very careful at the edges of high places.

When I went skydiving last year, it was the single-most terrifying experience of my life. It didn't make me more comfortable about heights, but at least I know I can still function when I'm terrified.
