If there is a devil how does satan make people do bad things. Does satan talk to you and tell you to do them. Does satan possess you, if so wouldn't you have to have a weak mind for such a possessing to take place?
Well, I surely cannot prove it scientifically but Satan can make you think about some specific things.
I wouldn't call it possessing, because possessing has more power than Satan does. I mean, to possess is to have something for your own. So, Satan cannot possess you but he can have an effect on you.

But how can satan have an effect on someone?

So could some one inform me on this matter.

satan cannot MAKE us do anything. That is a cop out. Temptation is real. Jesus was tempted. God also told us that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle. So the reality is that yes, satan does tempt us but we choose to take the bait.

I am not a Christian but I honestly think that Christians made up someone named Satan or Devil or whomever to blame someone for their sins. I am not criticizing Christians I am just saying what I honestly believe. I mean WE need to take responsiblility for our own sins.....G-d judge us...G-d doenst judge satan. G-d looks to humans for the mistakes humans causes He doesnt look to satan.

I believe we just do bad things and people tempts us to do wrong....not a person or individual named satan or devil.

Oh yeah is it true that satan is the Father of Evil? If so that means that satan is like another "god" right? The "god" of evil or something?

Als Can someone please list the Bible verse that pertain to satan or the devil and how Christian interpret those verses. Thanks.

Once again I am not criticizing Christians.....I am a Jew and Christianity just seem so wierd to me...I am just trying to understand it better.

Have you even read your Book or know your faith. Because even Jews believe that there is a Satan.
And God does judge Satan.
1Ch 21:1 "Satan was against Israel, and he caused David to count the people of Israel."
Mt 4:10 "Jesus said to the devil, "Go away from me, Satan! It is written in the Scriptures, 'You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'"

Obviously you have never read my Bible.....we believe in satan in a different way than Christians.
(1) your Book is not called a Bible, it is more of a Torah, don't you think so?
(2) I don't think that Jews believe in a different Satan.
Isaiah 14:12 "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning * ! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"
Ezekiel 28:14-17 "Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee."

OK....where in the Bible does it say you should blame all your sins on satan as Christians do?

I do not ask the same question the same way. I ask questions in different ways to get different answers.

It seem that I don't really get an answer from christians, I mean I get an answer that doesn't really answer my question. Maybe I asks for too much for an answer.

And i'm not trying to get at Christians, whatever that means, i'm really trying to understand the christians. To tell you the truth I have learn a lot about the Bible and ways of the christians being on these forums.

I seek answers like I would from a scientific answer, which explains why things work more or less.

When I read about the vedas, ayurveda, sanatana dharma etc etc, it explains everything in detail that it makes senses like sicence. But the Bible to this day has failed to do so. I have had christians ask why I even care about these things? They are useally like "who cares?". It seems to me that as long as the christians think they are going to heaven, who care how I get there, as in thoses kind of answers don't matter.

I'm not speaking for all the christians here, but most, as I have met here on the forum, and at my doorstep.

anyways i'm just trying to understand thats all.

The point is that Jews don't believe satan is the same evil creature as Christians do.
I don't think you really know about Judaism. The Jews most certainly do believe in satan as exactly who he is. his influence is plastered throughout the Torah. Maybe you need to actually do some studying of Judaism.

Satan is the father of lies, he is the prince of this world. Yes, he tempts us, but who are we to blame? The tempter or the one who gave in to Satan and sinned himself? We cannot blame everything on Satan, when we ourselves give into him. We are to blame as well.

The Bible does not say blame all your sins on Satan. It says that Satan exsists and has an effect on anyone even on Jesus. An example of that would be when Jesus was tempted in the end of his 40-day fast.

To be honest, to me the biblical Satan is just a scape goat, a way of blaming something else for the actions of a person. If someone cannot take responsibility for their own actions then they are decidedly cowardly. (The bible was not written by God remember)
