  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do you rid yourself of temptation?

This is why I also asked if its the expression of your heart. I do not want to talk about it, but I will tell you a little about me, I wrote an expression of my heart .... "the difference between me and a dead man, I just refuse to lay down, though he was better off." Then I wrote .... "my pain I leave behind and my scars are my lessons, I will enter a knew life with a breath of fresh air."

I wrote the above because I had it all and I lost it all, I was close to dirt. So, think of what I told you, you need to truly commit to God and I am not judging you.

You make a good point, In the times of lesser temptation is is much easier to be dedicated and obedient.. It's when temptation strikes that it becomes more difficult. I appreciate your words Sundown.. just hearing about the resolve of another is helpful.

I do not think of it so much as temptation, but of clearing one's mind of all impure thoughts, cravings and addictions. In the light of this level of Consciousness,(the Christ Consciousness) temptation is replaced by love, and peace, and a desire to help others.
Our focus must always be on that which is loving first, and with that mindset, our personal desires take a second place to taht which is Holy.

I want to be clean, I want to be without sin.. I like the feeling I get right after prayer, It's like a clean pure feeling, But it does not last, Sooner or later temptation happens..

My sins and desires offend me, And even though I try to resist, it's not so simple, The flesh is wicked and it desires what it does. Is there a way to make temptation go away and never come back. I dislike my temptations, I want them to stop completely, forever..There is no need to go into detail. And lest I be judged, No man is without sin. But, I am offended by my wickedness, it pulls at me like a chain coming straight from hell. To know the love of God, And then to feel the pull of Satan,, It's unfair, God deserves better then me, And I want to do better. But the devil knows my weakness.. And I am weak. How can someone make temptation stop? It's like a sickness that does not go away..

A never ending battle, And I just want peace,...Please note, I am not insane, I am just very spiritual,, I promise, My sins are not that different from any other male,, most likely..

But its not fair that Satan gets to try, over and over and over again,, it's like I am a stone and he is a stone cutter.. He picks at me until I am weak. And I fall to temptation..

It's not fair... I want it to stop...

1 Cor 10:13...memorize it and appropriate it. Temptation is never going to go away but over the years as we are faithful to follow Jesus it will be weaker and weaker in our lives.

Sometime one falls into their own desire ultimately sinning against God, then they blame others. Example: One person prays to not be led into temptation, but remember that God does not lead a person to temptation, it is the individual that puts himself in a position that causes him to sin. Who is the blame? No one, but the individual himself! One does not need another to tempt him, one can do it themselves.

That's pretty much what sin is all about in any event. We choose to do our own thing or we choose to follow God. Some of those things are very carnal in nature and some of those things are very selfish in nature but they are always sin. There is no one to blame but ourselves and we have to acknowledge that and confess to Jesus that we have sinned when we do. Regardless, God's word it's still true and it also says; "resist the enemy and he will flee from you". James 4:7

but if you find happiness in sin then you find a dilemma, as some things i do are considered such but i do enjoy them

So this "sin" you speak of...
Does it break the law? Thou shalt love the lord God with all thy heart mind soul and strength and love thy neighbor as yourself?
If it does, you need to look good and hard at the kingdom of darkness and remember that the bad comes along with the good.
If it does not (like concerning some food, substance or religious stuff) then you are fine. No worries.

Dear Shadowprophet. How do you rid yourself of temptation? by being busy, doing God`s Will. Jesus gives us good advice. In Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus says: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself, do unto others, as you would like others do to you." That is easy to understand and to follow, Love God with heart soul and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself. The Bible tells us: " Repent and change from being selfish to treat others as you would love to be treated. That might be a bit strange to start with, but love is very catching, and we will find that people will treat us as we treat people. We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on being loving and kind. Love and Compassion is a Christian`s weapon, and Satan and his followers will run away from it. The Holy Spirit will help and guide us all the way, and Jesus is the Way.
Let us lay all our wrong thoughts at the Feet of Jesus, and ask Our Saviour to take them away, and then forget them,
and we will find that we are on the way to God our Heavenly Father. God is Love, and God wants loving men and women. I say this with love, Shadowprophet. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Christ was tempted doing the Father's will, with this being said followers will be tempted. What one needs to do is not put themselves in a position that will easily cause them to be tempted. I do believe that if you're doing God's will the adversary will bring about temptation in a form of wealth, pride or people of high position to get one to fall. When one resist temptation one gets stronger in the Lord.

After reading some of your past post, it appears as if you are not serious about serving God and if you are then you need to ask God to guide your steps. If you are not asking God then most likely whatever anyone says to you their response will be trashed. I see a pattern with you, most of your post are negative and always with a complaint, maybe you are looking for attention.

Dear Hieronymus. In Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus tells us: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." In verse 40 we are told: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." That is short and to the point. God is Love
and God wants loving sons and daughters. In Matthew 7: 7-10: we are told: " Ask and you shall receive," we ask for Love and Joy, then we thank God and share all love and joy with our neighbour. We keep asking and receiving, keep thanking God and keep sharing all love and joy with our neighbour. (neighbour is all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends)
The Bible tells us to " Repent and be Born Again," we have to give up be selfish and unloving, and start loving and caring, and be kind and always friendly. The Holy Spirit will help and guide us, and Jesus our Saviour will lead us all the way: JESUS IS THE WAY. We might stumble and forget at times, but then ask God to forgive us and carry on be loving and caring. Love is very catching, and our weapons are love and compassion. God will see our loving efforts,
and God will approve and Bless us. I say this with love, Hieronymus. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Actually, you left out the first part of James 4:7 which says, "Submit yourselves therefore unto God..." It is no accident that James put submission to God before resisting the devil. It is only from a place of submission to God that a believer can consistently and effectively resist the devil. Many believers try from their own resources and out of a sense of moral obligation to God to resist the devil. And, for a time, they may be marginally successful. But the power of the devil is far greater than our own and inevitably he overcomes each of us when we try to contend with him in our own strength. It is only in submission to God and total dependence upon Him that the flow of His Spirit's power in and through us occurs. And it is only in the Spirit's power that a believer can truly overcome the Evil One.

Selah.

Hey man, well in short, temptation will never end. It's God's way of making us stronger against sin. Remember temptation is only the devil's suggestion for us to sin. He has 0 power over us to actually make us sin.

The presence of God is actually a good antidote against temptation, first, because we see God, and because God sees us. Remember that next time your tempted.

If you are tempted by porn, get rid of your access to it. Totally. If you struggle that much with it then you have to ask yourself the question, "what's more important: my device or my salvation?". Or at least take action to block access.

Hello, Gregory Mallett! I just wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to CF! I hope that you are blessed by being here.

Some good points too - if one is in a weak state against a particular temptation, it is a good idea not to place ourselves in a position to fail. But above all, yes, the presence of God. Except wait ... I think I actually misunderstood you there. ;) I was thinking for a moment you meant that keeping an awareness of God and a connection to Him is a good antidote. Which it is, in fact, and partly for the reason you mention. :) But you mention something that folks seem to seldom take into account - realizing that God sees every sin. It's easier to sin if we push Him out of our awareness and at least don't have the SENSE that He is watching, but of course He sees all, so never can we do anything in secret from Him.

Anyway - welcome to CF! We're glad that you've joined us. :) And if you have any questions or need help navigating the forums, please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Thanks, Anastasia! Actually I was wondering how I can see the threads I've started. I can seem to find that on my prof page.

(Actually never mind I found it.)
