How do you decide if something is factual?

Between the Creationists and the Evolutionist (I hate to use that particular word, but...), there is a clear difference between what they consider to be factual. One group believes that some sort of creationism is factual, and the other group accepts the scientific account of the formation of the earth and the development of life as factual.

In this thread, I'd like to discuss how we reach our conclusions as to what is factual or not. Not to debate on whether creationism or evolution is factual, but how we arrive at our conclusions as to what is factual.

My own preference is to take a belief I have and put it to the test. If I keep testing an idea and trying to prove it wrong, but every attempt to prove it wrong fails, then I consider that idea to be more and more factual.

How about you? How well have your methods worked in the past?
Depending on the subject, I guess I use a lot of different methods.

It's your homework, not mine. The teacher is never obligated to do the students homework. You are the one who does not know. (apparently)
If you don't read those books referenced earlier, it simply means you're not on the track to life, not learning what is needed for eternal life. That's your choice.
Such compassion, such concern for fellow humans, such devotion to charity. Awe inspiring!

I explained previously. You are not neutral towards God, since you call yourself an Atheist, you are an enemy of God. And again, unless God transforms your heart, no amount of evidence will satisfy you.
Nevertheless, just one tiny bit of evidence that was not self-referential would be a start. Or, do you actually want all the atheists to burn for an eternity?

.
Please test the following:

1. Should Gays be stoned to death?
2. Should I offer my eldest son to God, along with the offerings of the seasons first fruits, wine, oxen and sheep?
2a. If God tells me to kill my son or daughter (no matter what age they are), should I do so?
3. Can I sell my raped daughter to her rapist for fifty sheckels?

I would like to apologize for the attitude and tone of my previous responses. While I don't think the entirety of what I wrote was completely wrong, my approach and lack of grace was. So I apologize for not treating you with respect and grace. My zeal can often run ahead of wisdom and discernment. I am sorry.

How is it good? The same thing can be used to convince someone of the existence of fairies if he is desperate to believe in fairies. Things are not true just because you really want them to be true, and yet that's the only justification this method can offer! It's WORTHLESS as a way of finding out the truth!
Actually, it always works and is true.

Whatever you seek, and keep seeking, that is what you will find.

If you seek the truth, and keep seeking the truth (every day, never stop),
that is what you will find.

My phenomenological experiences are "factual" to me, in the sense that that I really experience them. Therefore I am neither a creationist nor evolutionist, but a phenomenologist.

What about all those people who were Christians, sat down to read the Bible, and became atheist?

Impossible, since that is like saying you are not a Human because you changed your mind. Those who are born again Spiritually ARE born into Heaven, already....

Eph 2:19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God

Can you explain HOW you to become unborn physically? Of course not. God Bless you

I have actually read the Bible. Like I said, I want YOU to tell me which laws YOU think still apply to YOU today!

ALL of God's perfect Laws apply to everyone today. Break just one of them and you will face Judgment, where you will be guilty of breaking all of them. Amen?

I didn't ask what errors you made.
And I didn’t tell you. You say science is only true when it agrees with scripture. That’s literally, exactly the NTS fallacy.

Are there also imperfect laws provided by god, or do regard all 613 of them equally?

My response seems to have gone over your head. Scientists only reject that which has no evidence.

True, and that is WHY I support what I post with the agreement of Science and History IF there is any. Sometimes, Scripture speaks of another world, which was totally destroyed in the flood ll Peter 3:6. The willing ignorance of godless scientists who REJECT God's Truth in Genesis, is self imposed. That is WHY they have NO idea of Humanity's true beginnings. Some even seem to love their ignorance. They are more proud of their animal ancestors than their Human ones, it seems. Amen?

ALL of God's Laws are perfect. They are there to teach all knowing heathens that no one can keep them all perfectly. IF we could, Jesus would NOT have had to die to pay justice, for the sins of the people He created.

So you don't wear mixed fabrics? Kill sorcerers outright? Don't shave your beard? Don't eat rasisins? Make a rape victim marry her rapist? Just asking, since this is law according to the bible.

Amen?

Nope.

You BELIEVE that.

I don't.

I don't believe because neither you nor any of 'true believer' has ever provided any real rationale TO believe it.

I have seen that the new 'true Christian' method of dealing with such obvious contradictory and hypocritical activity on their part is to claim that such proscriptions, rules, and sickening traditions only applied to the ancient Hebrews, not Christians.

How convenient, eh?

Who are these people and why should I care what they say?
