Simple answer.... We don't. .....
Simple question:
How do we rid ourselves of pride?
I like that you mention Romans 6 for that entire passage is based around baptism.
"Baptized into his death... So that we may walk in newness of life"
It's amazing - and deeply concerning - to me how few Christians understand this most basic of principles of Christian living. They try all sorts of methods and strategies to deal with sin: lots of self-effort, trying hard, staying busy, charitable service, bible reading and prayer. But the strategy the Bible outlines is rather different and involves the very thing Christ spoke of as essential to following after him:
Matthew 16:24
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
Anyone who has seriously attempted to "take up their cross" and enter into the life of self-denial and death that is the course Jesus set for every Christian to follow soon realizes that living this way consistently requires a power they cannot muster from within themselves. It's impossible to crucify one's self - physically or spiritually. Of course, God knows this and so He has acted long ago to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. On the cross of Calvary He crucified the source of all our sin: Self.
When most Christians hear this sort of thing, though, they glaze over and tune out. The crucified life, death to Self, sounds so esoteric and arcane (and rather unpleasant, too), and so evidently opposite to the facts of reality. Modern believers have been starved of this teaching for so long, that when they hear it these days it sounds like mystical, religious gobbledy-gook to them instead of the "meat-and-potatoes" of Christian living that it is. No wonder, then, that so many believers live in a perennial state of spiritual defeat, resigned to such a condition as the "normal" Christian life. Certainly, this is what I read of again and again on this site. Believers ignorant of one of the most basic and essential truths of Christian living trying their best to go on without it and employing all sorts of religious stop-gap measures to make up for their knowledge deficit. And as one would expect, their success in doing so is very limited; for God never intended spiritual victory over all sin to come through any other means than that which He has laid out for us in His word.
That was the first part. Then comes the power to become and live as a Christian. On the cross of Calvary He crucified the source of all our sin: Self.
15 But if you bite and devour one another, take heed that you are not consumed by one another. How are you doing this? What is your method? What makes up your typical day?
Simple question:
How do we rid ourselves of pride?
Study the bible a couple hours a day.How do we rid ourselves of pride?
Study the bible a couple hours a day.
I think that's what God wants you to do anyway.
Matthew chapter 4 verse 4

Romans chapter 1 verse 28
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
John chapter 8 verse 31,32
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, " If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.
Matthew 11
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Jeremiah chapter 9
24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.
Jeremiah chapter 5 verse 1
5 “Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem,
look around and consider,
search through her squares.
If you can find but one person
who deals honestly and seeks the truth,
I will forgive this city.
*You* can't. No one can. It's like a car with its tires stuck in the mud. The harder you try to get out, the more stuck you become.
Fail to realize this, and you will have a very difficult time as a Christian.
No. It's not even a way.Bible study.. is that the only way?
No. It's not even a way.
That's precisely what I was going to say, brother. Our sanctification is as much an act of God's sovereign, monergistic grace as regeneration and justification.
It's counterintuitive, but it's not about trying harder. The Christian life is lived, from start start to finish, by faith.
It's not a self-improvement project. Our lives are lived by our union with Christ.
How are you doing this? What is your method? What makes up your typical day?
Why?Well I would like to hear his POV too..
One must be born again by water and the Holy Spirit. And herein lies the first obstacle of pride.
That people argue over the necessity of water baptism and by pride deny the commandments of God.
Why?
I believe a few posters have posted what YHWH says about the question, directly from His Word - no pov involved/ distracting from YHWH'S Way.
'Religion' got in trouble (A LOT, worldwide) by following 'point-of-views'/ mankind's opinion instead of simply what YHWH says , directly.
Um, I don't know about this...We are born again by the Spirit, yes, but baptism isn't integral to salvation. That would constitute works-salvation which the Bible expressly denies. Don't get me wrong: Baptism is an important step of obedience for every believer; it just isn't salvific.
