First is "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9.

Then comes "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. 19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." Galatians 5:16-26.

And finally "Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault." Jude 1:24.

Let all who confess Jesus as Lord turn from wickedness. For you are a slave to that in which has mastered you. One cannot be both a slave to sin and righteousness. One cannot sit at both the Lords table and the table of devils or the Lord shall shun them. He shall deny those who deny him. If one confesses to being a child of Most High, yet lies, one should not even eat with them..

Dear alexsonofmatthew. The first step is to follow the advice which Jesus gives us in Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus tells a Lawyer: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as you love thyself."
Jesus also points out: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." What do you do now? In Matthew 7: 7-10: we are told:
" ask and you shall receive, " then thank God and share all Love and Joy with your neighbour: all you know an all you meet, friends and not friends.
God will see your sincere efforts, and God will approve and Bless you. Keep asking God for Love and Joy, then thank God, and share all Love and Joy with
your neighbour. You might stumble and forget at times, but then ask God to forgive you, and carry on loving and caring. Love is a great weapon of a Christian, with love we will overcome all obstacles and wrong behaviour.
People around us will treat us the same as we treat people. Love is very catching, and this imperfect world will not look quite so imperfect anymore,
Love has a chance to grow and take over.
We will find that we gradually and surly, will change into the men and women, which God our Heavenly Father will want us to become. Jesus our Saviour will help and guide us: JESUS IS THE WAY. God is Love, and God wants our love freely given, and NO tags attached.
How do you become a Christian, alex? " ask and ye shall receive," then share all Love and Joy with all around you. Jesus our Saviour died out of Love for God and for us, NOW we are free to follow Jesus back to where we came from. Love God with all our beings, and love our fellow-men and fellow-women as we love ourselves. Let us become sign-posts to our Heavenly Father. Love will overcome all evil and wrong deeds, and Love is there for the asking. Why not try and find out for ourselves? I say this with love, alex.
Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

I believe  What next

That's the most important choice you will ever make. Obviously, I don't know you, your church, nor what your church teaches about salvation, but I do know what the Bible teaches about salvation. In Mark 1:15, Jesus said, "repent and believe the gospel." Repent means to change your mind and the gospel is the 'death, burial & resurrection' of Jesus. So to be saved, we are to change our mind about Jesus and believe in His gospel.

Romans 10:9-10, 13(NLT) tells us,
9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
If you have followed what the Bible says here, then you are saved, praise the LORD. If you attend a Bible believing church, the next step is to be baptized. Welcome to God's Family!

I affirm my Christianity every day, by saying (sometimes to myself, sometimes in front of others):

I know I'm a sinner, I know that I do bad things and have bad thoughts, and I know these bad things and bad thoughts are against God's will and His way:

I'm sorry for the bad things and the bad thoughts.

I believe Jesus died on the cross to wash away all the bad things and bad thoughts that I have done and will do, and made me and everyone else clean and new, and worthy of His Kingdom of Heaven.

I believe God will welcome me into Heaven when I die, because when He looks at me, He sees His Son Jesus, because I believe in Jesus as my Savior and God as the Father, Creator, and King of all!

Simple as that, in my humble opinion!

I'll never forget August 18, 2010. I was at my wits' end, didn't know what to do. I walked out of my office, and there was my boss, who I knew was a Christian.

I said, "Hey Boss, how do I become a Christian?"

He talked to me, then called in another guy I worked with, who told me what he believed (and who, I found out later, had been praying for me for awhile prior), which was something similar to what I just outlined above.

Then he asked me if I had anything to say. And boy, did I? :amen:

Believe, confess, get baptized.

1) Start attending church.
2) You need to be instructed in the faith. For example, all Orthodox parishes will instruct inquirer's regarding the faith.
3) Even if you are a believer- these things need to take place before you are baptized into Christ. Christianity is a big commitment and you absolutely should know what you're getting yourself into.
4) Despite your concerns about whether or not you are a Christian there is absolutely nothing that should be stopping you from reading the scriptures and even praying.

Where to find an Orthodox parish (as I only recommend those being biased as I am on the matter): Orthodoxy in America - Contact

Basics about the faith:

Prayer resources I've found helpful:

"He that has the Son, has life (eternal), and he that has not the Son of God, has not that life" (1 Jn. 5:10-12). So, the issue is: does one have the Lord Jesus in their heart or not? If so, they are saved by the grace of God. Salvation is not about just trying to follow Bible teachings.

Dear alexsonofmatthew. To be a Christian is to follow our Lord`s Commandments, and say and do as Jesus does: In Luke 10: 25-28: Jesus answers a Lawyer`s question: " Master, what do I have to do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus tells him: " you know the two Commandments to Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Also: to love your neighbour as yourself." The Lawyer answers: "Yes, I know. To Love God and love our neighbour as we love ourselves." Jesus tells him: " That is right, DO THIS AND THOU SHALT LIVE. "
Jesus wants us to Love God with all our hearts, all our souls, and all our minds. Also: to love our neighbour as we love ourselves: all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends. The Bible tells us to " Repent," and to " Be Born Again" To change from being selfish and unloving, to become Loving and Caring. A Christian`s great weapon is Love, with love we can overcome all enmity and wrong behaviour. Love is very catching, and Love will gradually
change us into the sons and daughters which God/Jesus our Saviour wants us to become. We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on Loving and Caring.
How do I become a Christian? " Ask and ye shall receive," then we thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour. ( Matthews 7: 7-10) Jesus will help and guide us: JESUS IS THE WAY. Remember, alexsonofmatthew,
"ask and ye shall receive, then thank God and share all Love and Joy with your neighbour. To follow Jesus is to become a Christian.
I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.
