• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How could you tell?

I liked your question because the answer is: I don't know. My question is: you got a better deal? Cause the God of the Bible is giving away full pardons for free. I gotta say tho that I do not believe God is sending in audibles to anyone and if some says "god told me this" be very cautious they're makin it up.

Your follow-up type question doesn't go in line with your response.

If you don't know, then it would follow that you don't know if the "giving away full pardons" is true.

Which leaves you, I guess, with Pascal's Wager...

I don't have a "point". I have a question.

Kind of like "x+3=5, what is x?" My question gives me an answer. The answer would tell me, how can you solve for x.

So, I guess, the point would be, how one could tell/discern if a deity was telling the truth?

And if I say they cant then what would you say?

How could you tell if you're not really a brain in vat being stimulated to think you are posting in this forum?

Irrelevant. As long as the experience is consistent and reliable, I can continue treating it as real. Solipsism fails.

Since this would fall outside the realm of something I could detect (assuming that's the hypothetical situation you are creating), I couldn't.

So... how could you tell if a deity was telling the truth?

It would take some efforts and may be years of experiment. If you are serious about it.

If you are not serious, then you can not.

I have not seen a person who can not tell over time. One way or another, everyone can tell eventually.

You seem to be replying to conversations in other members posts...

But, how could you tell?
