We know in the same way we know how big the Moon is...
I don't think so.

More like you guys know in the same way as you "know" how we got our moon -- i.e. five different methods to choose from.

If you know them so well, what are they called?

A Felix domesticus is a housecat.

A Pilohippus is a _____ .

I think you mean Pliohippus, and it's an extinct species that is currently viewed as the ancestor of the modern horse.

Ya -- just by coincidence -- everything happens to be extinct, doesn't it?

Unless, of course, it's a coelacanth.

If it's a parody of fundamentalist liberalism, I guess that would be a Poe too. Presumably, fundamentalist liberalism would be people who don't understand liberalism but shout its slogans anyway, abusing the opposition with a hoity-toity holier-than-thou attitude, driving hybrid cars without really knowing anything about climate change, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm as liberal as they come, but some liberals are... annoying :p

Well, speaking as a Liberal who has no problem with being annoying in some quarters, I have to agree. ^_^

However, I don't drive a hybrid car. Or any other kind, come to that. Not because of deeply held ecological values, as is true of + Pete of Willesden, but because I can't afford one any longer. ^_^

If you think everything is extinct, I think I can see where your misunderstandings begin.

Of course, if you're actually just referring to extinct animals, then if you think it is coincidence you don't understand how difficult and dangerous the universe and the Earth are, nor do you appear to understand how natural selection works.

Like I said elsewhere, the evidence on the Moon's origins is insufficient to conclude which of the various origin hypotheses is right. But so what? The evidence for evolution is far in excess of the evidence for the Moon's origin.

If you know them so well, what are they called?

A Pilohippus is a _____ .
It's just a Pilohippus. And I think you mean Felis catus.

The fossil record can take a hike.

All you guys do is draw a line [of faith] between these drawings to connect the dots.

You don't know if that Hyracotherium turned into a Mesohippus, and then into a Merychippus, and then into a Pliohippus, etc; you just assume they did.

And the fact that these are drawings shows even more faith.

You guys like to accuse us of god-of-the-gaps, but the biggest fillers of gaps are scientists who prefer an easel to a clipboard.

I know a bigger gap.

Some evolutionary processes have clearly been less effective than others, and have left a gap between one ear and the other.

You do seem to apply one standard to science and another to the bible. Why?
Science and the Bible have been drifting apart for some time now.

I have Boolean standards that I use that only make me look like I don't have respect for science.

I hold science up to a Higher Standard than most people.

I think people just say they believe in evolution because all their friends pretend to be atheist and therefore they too must believe in evolution, because of peer pressure.
It may also be a result of their love and affection for cute animals. I blame Walt Disney.

Did you see your great grandparents? Or their parents? Or theirs?
If not, they did not exist. If you think they did, then you are assuming something that you have not seen take place
That's a very good point.

But of all the grandparents and great grandparents I've seen none of them were this hairy, cute and cuddly. So I can assume none of my grandparents looked like this:

Horses have one of the most well-documented and complete fossil histories known to man, a few of which are shown in this famous picture:

493px-Horseevolution.png
.
Ya know, 15 million years is a long time. Horses that are dated 15 million years apart say very little about transition, especially when each horse looks like a complete horse. One can interpret this as different species of horse existing in different geological times. So what?

Do you agree that there is a general progression in the characteristics of horses over the geological time? Particularly in regard to the leg?
