I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-Kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!

I was brought up in error. Once a person is an educated Naturalist it is difficult to still be open minded to if there is a God, even Him still displaying His Power from on High. God can save anyone!

Point of correction, Hara-Kiri Rock would need PAPER

I think it is now proven behind a shred of doubt that Heiss will spew the same things, no matter what combination of words is thrown in his direction. He might even be a very advanced bot.

"Advanced" might be a bit of a stretch -- you'll notice after a while that it's only about 5 or 6 variations of the same canned speech.

I'm assuming you mean the hoax is making it seem like he didn't exist.

Could you tell me why we should believe in the existence of someone for whom we have no contemporary records?

Still waiting for an answer to this. Somebody? Anybody?

Faith?

Do you want us to believe in Charles Darwin?

I haven't seen anything from him lately.

This is a Miracles thread. And Jesus still performs them all the time in our generation.

The closer you get to Him the more He reveals; the farther you get from Him the more a person can doubt that He even existed.

By this logic, anything that "explodes" in popularity must be true?

As for the rapid growth of Christianity, you've conveniently left out some pertinent details, like the fact it almost died out before Constantine used it as a political tool.

And lasts, considered true for 2000 years, pretty much.
But if you have comparable lies, or fabrications, or myths,
considered true for a length a time, later dismissed as false,
that would be a good counter point.

So Constantine gets full credit for keeping the lies going?

He gets a lot of the credit, he is the reason why it took off, if you think about it.

Nice.

Hinduism. Shiva dates back to 7000 BC.

He certainly provided a platform to the religion.
Without it, chances are that christianity would have faded away.

In fact it was probably his order for the first 50 "bibles" that got the whole canonization process started. I'd say it's a more than little over the top to suggest Christianity was dying out as a religion as Hitchslap seemed to suggest, in fact it's likely that it's widespread popularity among his troops made it a attractive political tool.

Without a doubt however, Constantine's support of Christianity was vital in terms of it's growth. It's almost certain that's what led to the need for an "official" Bible, and "official' doctrine too.

Precisely, there is a good chance that Christianity would not be widespread but rather restricted to a small geographic area were it not for Constantine and his soldiers.

Would this be a good time to mention the ancient egyptian gods? You know, Ra, Bast, Osiris, Set...

Also, Hinduism is a tiny bit older than christanity, and still very much a thing. It's spread only got stopped by the biggest mountain range of the planet.

Not likely. It's more likely that the whole reason he was exposed to Christianity, and embraced it too is due to the popularity of Christianity among his own troops. It's popularity is also what likely made it an attractive political tool as well.

They'd been burning Christians at the stake and feeding to the lions for centuries by the time Constantine heard about it.
