NOTE: This is the first part in a four-part series on the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. For full understanding, it is important to receive this series in numerical order.

The business controller said to me, “I could never embrace the born-again experience. My mother-in-law would never stand for it!” That sounds strange, but being free to believe is a freedom that the vast majority of this world does not enjoy. It is, in fact, an individual struggle that each of us must seek to master.

“Tell me the truth!” the world shouts, but what is really meant is, “Tell me what I want to hear!”

Years ago, I was witnessing to a Jewish man highly placed in the Jewish community nationally, as well as in his local synagogue. I had discussed Christ with him over several years. During this particular conversation, I sensed that he was seriously considering Jesus Christ as the King of the Jews. I told him the day that he closed his mind to the wooing of the Holy Ghost, as a result of his fear of the loss of status in the Jewish community and being thrown out of the synagogue, would be the day of his doom.

Many sit in congregations which they know are not embracing the whole truth. They are afraid to acknowledge the obvious truth for fear of being frowned upon and ostracized.

Several decades ago, I sat in on a huge doctrinal debate. The pastor presiding over the affair asked a particular deacon in the congregation, “What do you think, brother?”

The deacon answered, “I believe what you believe.” He didn’t have the foggiest idea of what was in the balances. In the deacon’s case, he was willing to follow the leadership’s position without a serious, personal investigation of the issue.

Are you free to believe all that you find written in the word of God? Are you willing to follow the truth, regardless of the consequences? Typically, one’s answer to this question is “Yes.” But be certain that entrance to the gates of truth is not casually or even easily attained.

The issue we’ll examine in this series is one of, if not the most polarizing doctrines of the word of God. God Said Man Said understands that we will become the enemy of many for declaring the scriptural position on this matter, but the message is too foundationally critical to neglect. Galatians 4:16 comes to mind:

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
First, let it be known, as has been recited on this website many times, God Said Man Said has no denominational affiliation. Denomination, by definition, means “division.” Jesus Christ created the Body of Christ, which fully transcends religious organizations founded only partially on the word of God.

Several decades ago, a particular congregation of a particular denomination challenged our small country fellowship to a debate. They were rather feisty and told one young brother, through which the challenge came, that they were going to straighten out his pastor’s doctrinal errors. I told the brethren that went with me to the debate that only three things could result from the meeting, and in each regard we would be successful. (1.) They, through the scriptures, would show us our doctrinal errors and we would immediately conform. (2.) We, through the scriptures, would show them their doctrinal errors. Or (3.), a combination of one and two. When the confident challengers entered the room, their leader presented a stack of a dozen books or so. We arrived with only one book in hand – the Bible.

Armed with their helps and aids, the challengers immediately attempted to take authority of the proceedings, at least until two basic questions were asked: (1.) Can we agree that, on the grounds of age, scholarship, geography, and weight of extant (existing) documents that the Authorized King James Version is the unquestioned authority? They answered “Yes.” (2.) Will you agree that no doctrine will be presented for consideration unless it can be fully supported in the Bible with chapter and verse? They answered “Yes.” One brother from our camp correctly deduced that all books except for the Bible had been eliminated.

This is “Part One” in a four-part series on the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The scriptures alone will be the authority. In this series, we will address the following 10 questions:
1. What is the first commandment Christ gives his church?
2. Are people automatically baptized with the Holy Ghost the day they are saved?
3. How did the saints of old get baptized with the Holy Ghost?
4. How did the Apostles recognize one who was baptized with the Holy Ghost?
5. What is the purpose of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost?
6. Do Christians get baptized with the Holy Ghost today?
7. Were the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, gifts of the spirit, and miracles only for the days of the Apostles?
8. Do the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and the nine gifts of the Spirit serve separate functions?
9. Is speaking with new tongues a phenomenon that began in 1906? Is that which is perfect already come (I Corinthians 13:10)?
10. How can a Christian receive the Baptism with the Holy Ghost today?
If you intend to participate in this series, you will need a copy of the Authorized King James Version of the Bible. If you don’t have a KJV, click on to Genesis Networks on the web. Prepare for supernatural dynamics.

Dear 888,

What a wonderful age. Know that your redemption draweth nigh. We live in a world where the truth has become a rare commodity. Those who have the truth in them and recognize what is of the truth. The Holy Spirit of God is the revealer of truth. And it is that truth that is accessable to all who seek it. Yet, because the love of sin is greater then the love of God, most seek their own truth. We can abide by what God says or we can abide by what man says. One thing is for certain, there is no inbetween. There is not a compromise. Most today live with what is compromised and refuse to depart from it. Unless they return to God, unless they go to the alter with a sincere heart and repent, they will not see what is faithful and true.

So beloved, stand strong in the faith. Do not accept the doctrines of men. Believe the Word of God. Let God lead you into all truth. Put you trust in him and not that of men. Lift up Holy hands unto the Lord, for he inhabits our praise.

Dear God'slilgirlalways,

The site that has the study on the baptism of the Holy Spirit is that of my Church. We are a non-denominational Church and our doctrine in the Authorized King James bible. We do not knowingly add of take away from the Word of God, for it is written that we should not. So we make our stand on the Word of God and we believe the King James is the infallible Word of God. Many today are turning against the KJ. The world hates the KJ.

The scriptures tell us that Jesus is the Word of God. If Jesus is the Word of God, and he is, will not the world hate him? Would that not explain why so many are coming against the KJ? Jesus said that the world would hate him and would hate any who believes in him.

So it only makes sense that if the majority of the world hates the KJ, that it is the Word of God.

I pray you enjoy our site. There is much information there and the Word of truth is a wonderful thing to have in a world where truth is such a rare commodity.

they are a bit off. they cherry pick to much scripture and use to many vague passages which are that way if you use them on there one. there is ONE baptism ONE Spirit doing all things. this baptism of the holy ghost is JUST another work of the SPirit in you already once you are saved. 1 cor speaks of this at length. unless they think you are saved by water baptism and this baptism is what happens after this. WRONG if so. i should read the first parts i guess before i jump into any conclusion.

Dear Schroeder,

Have you read any more? As for your comment, it makes little sense. We do not believe that water saves. For it does not. It is by grace we are saved. Then we are to receive the baptism of water and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The order does not matter. Often times people receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit at salvation. And often times at the same time of water baptism. God baptizes when he wants to baptize. If it does not happen in these ways, it is done as according to scripture with the laying on of hands by the presbytery in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

i had a bit of trouble folowing there site. i could not get the first two before the one you posted. but i agree water does not save. I just dont see there idea of an extra holy spirit baptism. we receive the SPirit when we believe eph 1:13-14. the SPirit gives us many gifts or works in many different ways but it is all the same Spirit. the only way we do receive it is when we truelly believe. at that moment we receive it. the laying on of hands to get it was a special tinme for it to show the apostles athority or show they were of GOd. it was for a time no longer needed. well i geuss it could be used but would be rare and for mission workers in lands that may need to be shown a power from God to believe. i think i may not be far from what you believe. i guess it is not enough to argue about. peace be with you.

Dear Schroeder,

You are not understanding. You mistake the baptism of the Holy Spirit with salvation. These are not the same. When a man is born again, saved, he is cleansed by the blood of the lamb. He is baptized into Christ through his blood. The temple must first be made clean, become sanctified before the Holy Spirit of God can come into the temple.

Matthew 9:17 Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."

The man must first be made clean. He believes and is baptized by the blood of the lamb. Now, there have been times when men have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the same time he was saved. Yet, this is not common. There have been times men have been saved and when receiving water baptism they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. God will baptize whom he pleases when he pleases as he did on the day of Pentecost.

The point I am trying to make is those on the day of Pentecost were already saved before the Holy Spirit came upon them. They were already believers covered by the blood of the lamb. On the day of Pentecost, they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit which was the infilling or overfilling of the Holy Ghost. This was given by God without the laying of hands.

So we see that the baptism was given without the laying on of hands on the day of Pentecost and we find out that it was given with the laying of hands. So it is done both ways. It became mostly practiced by the laying of hands to give the baptism of the Holy Spirit as the church began to grow and spread throughout the regions. Reason being was because of the how quickly the church was growing.

How do i know if ive been baptised in the spirit? Ive recently had a change in my attitude and i understand the word of God and other spiritual things that i never understood before. I always have something in my spirit telling me to pray everyday. Ive been seeking God alot and nothig is more interesting to me then things of God. I think i can speak in tongues but im not sure, it sounds like some kind of hebrew jibberish to me. but anyway, from what ive said about my self, do u think i am born again or baptised in the holy spirit?

You ask if you have been born again? Only God knows what happened within your heart and only you know what happened within your heart. If you knew you were a sinner, and that the only way you were going to escape death was by asking God to forgive you of you sins, if you knew that God sent his only begotten son into the world to die, so that you may be forgiven of you sins. If you believe in Jesus Christ with all of your heart and you repent of your sins, and you asked him into you heart, you know you are born again.

As for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, God at times gives it at the time of salvation. Most times he does not and it is aquired with the laying on of hands by the presbytery. Personally, I feel in my heart that you have been baptized already. Yet, to remove all doubt, and doubt comes by the enemy, all you need is to have a believer, one who stands on the Word of God and one who is spirit filled to administer the baptism. Please let me give you this warning. When you receive this baptism, it will be in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. If it is not, it is not of God. So find a person who has been baptized with the laying on of hands to administer the baptism to you. Just know that the devil is there always trying to say that tongues is not of God. He does not want us to do this, for it is a powerful weapon against his dominion. It is like the difference of going into battle with a water pistol compared to a tank. That is why it was so devastating to the church when the baptisms where changed and the power of the Holy Spirit baptism disappeared from the church. But thanks be to God, he has given it back.

Also, you should seek to get water baptism. This could be done by the same person, but it must be done in the name of Jesus.

Dear Godslilgirlalways,

You are such a blessing. The love the Lord has for you is powerful and I would not doubt for a second that you received the baptism as you read the Words and the same with Dyin2live. When I first came to this forum, I thought it would be my most difficult challenge. I have been to many places spreading the good news. Most do not want to hear it. Most would rather continue to believe the doctrines of men. I have found more children of God on this forum then any place that I have been and I praise God in heaven for this. It says we are to come to him as children, and it is here where I am finding his children.

I just love God so much. As I said, he will baptize who he wants to baptize when he wants to baptize. When a man is born again, at times at rebirth, God will give men the baptism of the Holy Spirit as he did on the day of Pentecost and as he did for the Gentiles in Caesarea.

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

All it takes is faith beloved. If you still have doubts, you can find a church that administers the baptism. Yet, as for the teaching, you will not find one that is more indepth and more accurate then what is posted here and on Godsaidmansaid.

Dear dyin2live,

We all are sinners and guilty of death. That is why God sent his son. We cannot escape from sinning. Yet, when a man is born again, Jesus comes to live in him and as Jesus grows in that man, and as that man learns to put his faith in Jesus and not in himself, he discovers that the sin that once plaqued him begins to disappear from his life. It is through Jesus and our faith in him that we can escape the life of sin, but not of ourselves. It is allowing him to grow in us, and putting our selfwill to death, by mortifying the sinful flesh through our faith. Our spirit, becomes stronger through Christ then our flesh and sin. So take cheer young brother. You are yet young. Just continue to pray everyday. Continue to read God's Word everyday. Continue to pray in the spirit, tongues, everyday. Do not forsake fellowship with other brothers and sisters in the Lord. Raise up Holy Hands unto the Lord and praise him, for he inhabits the praise of the saints. Be ye seperate from the world. For we are a peculiar people. And watch the heavens, for Jesus is coming in the clouds.
