  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Gal. 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Eph. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

These are your scriptures and though we do receive the gift of grace, which is Christ the Lord, who is Holy Spirit, it is not the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When we are saved, born again, Jesus comes and lives in our heart.
SO when JTB said Christ would do the baptism of the holy Spirit he was not refering to the one that saves you and cleanses you but this one which you dont seem to give very many qoutes for except one you use out of context. it does say you are sealed with that HOLY SPIRIT of promise, Yet you say there is another holy SPirit to come. i am sorry but you are not giving a very good arguement. there are not three baptism only ONE. the one Holy SPirit baptism of Christ. you speak of just a FULLER filling of the SPirit not another baptism of it. Scripture makes it clear the reason for this. to show or deminstrate a specific point, like authority, membership or acceptance.

When Jesus enters the heart of the man, is not the Holy Ghost in that man? Is not the Holy Ghost in the Son? Is not the Father in the Son? So when we are born again, we are cleansed by the blood of the lamb, and Christ comes and resides within the inner Chambers of our hearts.

And then we come to the the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which was most commonly attained by the laying on of hands. It is then we are filled, overfilled with the Holy Spirit of God.

We just must remember though, the vessel must first be made clean, sanctifed by the high priest by blood before entering the temple. Then once he enters, the Spirit of the Almighty comes. Remember the OT. That is what happens in the heart.

I posted the same reply as on the other thread, because they require the same answer. The baptism JTB spoke of was that of salvation. It is not the save baptism they received on the day of Pentecost. That is why you need to try and understand how sanctifying of the heart and the OT ways of sanctifying the temple are one in the same with the exception that the heart is sanctified by the blood of the Son of God.

As i said it is a further filling of the SPirit not another baptism. but you can call it that if you wish. Agian the pentacost was a special event dealing with the apostles only. it was the START of the Church age. it is hard to lump there experiences with how we are saved. but our thoughts arent that far off so i wil leave it at that.

Dear Schroeder,

You say that the day of Pentecost was only for the apostles, what was Peter's explaination of what was happening?

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:

21
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
