• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

 • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not pointing fingers, the whole GT forum is in contention. Just look at any contention or division, that's not what the gospel teaches us. We are failing the Lord when we do that. I know its hard to come together over differences but we must, that's our calling. To love one another in meekness and submit to one another in love. I'm not judging because i too have failed, but contention is not good for the spirit, we must reject it, even the smallest form of it. We shouldn't take this lightly.
Well this is pretty much an open debate board. If you're looking for agreement there are the denominational faith forums.

Whats there to disagree about? We all know we need to love each other and to be doers of the word, we should let any disagreements go and talk about what we agree on. This debating gets out of hand sometimes and causes new believers to enter into debating the word rather than doing the word, its not debating that's wrong, its just that it shouldn't be done the way we do it and in front of new Christians because it doesn't help them, it doesn't help many of us either, i see your point but i wish you could see what i see, its horrible.
Being here is a personal choice. If you want something restricted a public forum isn't the place to be.

Debating helped me learn, so i can't be against it, but i really think the way we have done it it causes contention that undermines the work of the holy Spirit in us. I don't know something just doesn't fit.
Debating doesn't cause contention. Contention already exists and that is the reason for debate. Why do you argue against what you love and purpose are. If you kill it you really have a problem.

NOPE! why should anyone be concerned in leaving the social club. The qualifiyer is the assembly of believers within the context.
Not sure what that context would be. For myself, I used to be a lone ranger- and there's less accountability in that, it seems to me. Anyway I think the social club may be more important than we think, in spite of its pimples-we all have them, BTW.

Paul does talk elsewhere about "synergy", ie we cooperate with what God does. (So of course we could also not cooperate ...)

Hmmmm..yet, we see that the Galatians tried to get "synergetic", in Gal 3:3, adding law, human effort, to the new life they found, perfecting through the flesh, in Gal 3:3.

So where is the line betwenn man taking over, or God doing it?

Hebrews also, by one sacrifice, they were perfected forever, 10:14.

I don't think it is the judging at all. It is more like every one doesn't take his view. It is his way to get others to back out of their position when nothing else works. It is plying the rules of the forum to manipulate.

Music/Instruments in church worship today question

Reve 18:22 and sound/voice of lyrers/harpists and of musicians and of flutists/aulhtwn <834> and of trumpeters not no should be being heard in Thee still.
And every craftsman/artificer of every craft not no may be being found in Thee still.
And sound of a millstone not no should be being heard in Thee still.

MUSIC IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

*snip*
However, after the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D., the Jews forbade the use of instruments in worship.
"As long as the Judaeo-Christians remained one of the Jewish sects, they continued the musical traditional of their forefathers."
Again, "How far Judaism's prohibition of all instrumental music used shortly after the destruction of the temple had influenced the cause of events, is hard to determine.

The Law is summed up by-and fulfilled by- Love. So to be perfect or conformed to the image of God is simply (though not easily done) to fulfill the greatest commandments, to love God with our whole heart soul, mind and strentgh and our neighbor as ourselves. And this is how Jer 31:31-34 is fulfilled. The Christians' single command could put as: Thou shalt Love.
I like Col 2:10 and 4:12 on this which says we're complete in Jesus.

"ya'll come back, hear"

Search for 'Genesis 1:1' in the version

Young) 1 Corinthians 13:1 If with the tongues of men and of messengers I speak, and have not love, I have become brass sounding, or a cymbal tinkling;
2 and if I have prophecy, and know all the secrets, and all the knowledge, and if I have all the faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing;
