I think it's more to keep your drain from clogging, rather than to unclog it.
I guess it kinda works like sandpaper.

I've got a shower that starts to drain slow every now and then and the vinegar and baking soda definitely works better than the products at the store, for a lot cheaper.The remedy for clogs with the vinegar can also double as a science experiment![]()
