The die was cast when President Trump assured his acolytes followers that the Democrats “stole the election”; the unspoken part was that the GOP would have had to have been mind-numbingly incompetent to “allow” this to happen under their very noses, in states they controlled (AZ, GA).

Bad political thing happens: blame the Democrats

This isn’t “new”.
Yep it's not new as in Trump stole the election through Russian interference that was a result of his collusion with Putin. And then he brainwashed half of America into becoming a cult who literally worships him, who all in turn need to be deprogrammed.

Reminds us all of when the pink-hats stormed into Congress, trying to change the result of the 2016 election.

Nah the pink-hats just threatened to kill the electors and their families if they didn't change their vote.

And democrats working as one to make sure it happened. Now they cry about there not being a House speaker and things not getting done as a result, and then blame Republicans for it.
If the government shuts down about a month from now, it will be the fault of every democrat in the House. The record shows it.
'But mum, it's Jimmy's fault. He didn't stop me!'

What's weird about this to me is that from what I could see from the comment he shared on his social media, it came with the hashtag of #nevertrump. Now, my memory may not be what it was six years ago, but from what I remember, the "Never Trump" thing was mainly applied by Republicans/right-wingers to themselves, on account of their conviction that Trump should not be the presidential nominee/president (depending on what stage of the race they're applying this idea to). It would be weird for a Democrat or other person who already doesn't vote Republican to be using #nevertrump, since they kind of don't have to say it out loud, because no one in their political circle is even considering voting for Trump anyway.

I dunno. I'm not seeing this as evidence that the 'pink hats' did anything, since it seems to be an internal fight, where people who are #nevertrump are mad that their electors (Republican electors, from the party that they vote for) would be casting their electoral votes against those peoples' wishes. Like the woman in the story who says "I believe I must cast my vote for an alternative Republican." What 'pink hat' would be saying something like that, instead of (presumably) "I'm not voting Republican, period"?

Yep a few republicans are at fault for what all of the democrats did.
As any parent knows, sometimes you have to let the kids make their own mistakes so they'll know that actions have consequences. Daddy and Mommy can't rescue them from every bad decision they make, ya know.

The Republicans said 'Do you want to help us look as if we don't know what we're doing and the GOP is some sort of clown show that wants to dismiss a speaker for the first time in history? You know, the one that took a gazillion votes to get elected not so long ago? Could you, please?'

And the Dems went 'Umm...yeah...I guess. If you want'.

And then the GOP supporters all say 'Those dirty, underhanded, sneaky, low down cheating Dems. The Republicans asked them to help them look foolish and they said yes!'

Wow the democrats aren't ever in any way responsible for anything whatsoever.

No, the GOP is responsible. The Dems, good hearted individuals all, just helped them out when asked.

The line of discussion was about the democrats carping over the result of what they all voted for.

What does that have to do with the democrats carping about the aftermath?

Right and the democrats are being Karens over their unanimous vote to oust McCarthy.
Democrats didn't raise the motion to vacate the Speaker. Gaetz did that all by himself.

Which they only did out of kindness of their bleeding hearts and maternal obligation. Otherwise they would have voted to keep McCarthy.
Why would they want to keep him? He has refused to work with them in the past, why would they want that to continue?

Meanwhile on planet bizzarro...
Yeah, it's bizarre to think politicians would vote for someone who refuses to work with them, or even listen to them.

Not so much of a complaint as a question: Why can't the GOP can't get their act together?
