Democrats ALL voted to oust MacCarthy and leave the House without a speaker. That's the fact.The Republicans control the House. If they actually could govern they would be able to have a Speaker in place without having to rely on Democrats to help them out. The Democrats didn’t need Republicans to make Pelosi speaker. They were able to do that on their own. It’s pathetic Republicans are crying about how Democrats didn’t save Republicans from shooting themselves in the foot. Why should the Democrats have saved McCarthy? Instead of extending an olive branch, he blamed them for the continuing resolution that McCarthy himself brought to the floor. The Democrats want Hakeem Jefferies as Speaker and they see an opportunity to achieve that. If the Republicans had any discipline, the Democrats never would have a deal of achieving that. Now they do and Republicans are crying because the mean Democrats aren’t saving the Republicans from their worst impulses.
Why can’t Republicans be smart enough to get a speaker in position? They have the votes that the Democrats can literally do nothing to stop them. Why can’t the Republicans do that?
