I agree, 100%. My job almost forced me to use ChatGPT AI, even if my job duties do not require it, so I told them no. Not everything can be automated though. However, AI can be useful in niche scenarios, but I still trust humans more. TikTok and maybe even AI have made humanity fall. Also, AI is awful at math, so I never use it for math, unless I want to test it, and most of the times, AI fails.I’m out of this conversation. Go ahead and use AI.
IMO, the more we start depending on AI, the stupider the human race is going get.
Yeah, try my suggestion first, then ask Perplexity AI. If all else fails, listen to @MForbes' suggestion about Burris Optics inserts, as he has been using guns for twice the time I have existed on Earth. And hey, target practice is good for hand-eye coordination.
You are welcome. Can you give us on the forum an update on how the gun performs after you adjust the scope?yeah it’s good. Thank you for seeing this through. It was a great thread, and thanks to all who participated.
Good idea. So, you will go ahead and pay the gunsmith instead? Try my theory once the weather cools off as well, and also ask Mr. Forbes. Honestly, go with Mr. Forbes' idea first, as he knows a lot more than I do. My city had a heatwave a few days ago in Wisconsin, 90+ degrees F last week for roughly three days.Sure. But to tell you the truth I may be going a different route. I’m having the bolt fixed. Then all these troubles will be gone. Just decided this evening. It was so far out I don’t see how .011 could fix it. It was so tall I couldn’t hold it straight up and down. Lost cheek weld and the look was awkward. I designed it myself and it wasn’t functional enough. I kept asking God, He told me the bolt long before castboolits forum. Changes the look of the gun, but it’s the best solution after drilling it for scope. Smoother more saleable, I’m going to keep it, not buying anymore guns in ca. I do appreciate the help before I knew what to do. Exploring and getting practical without spending too much money.
Prove me wrong @MForbes , Mr Forbes, make it simple. I’m willing to listen. We are now having a hot spell so I won’t be getting to the range soon. Only there could I test your theory Mr @AlexB23 you can be sure I’ll test it before I sell all the parts. Thanks again.

Right now, it is raining, but it does get humid sometimes, though not as much as states to the south. I am glad that you are going to the source of the problem. Once the heatwave ends, I look forward to the results at your gun range.Today’s the last day of spring. This week 95-100. The zee rings will help the scope sit well in uneven rings. They could help one side or the other go up up to .020. So they might work. But I have to get them to a place where a fine adjustment will work. It’s a good idea I just don’t want to spend anymore money on rings. I’m going to the source of the problem.
is it humid there in Wisconsin?
California sounds like a perpetual apocalypse. The state is always burning, it seems. Beautiful state though, as my parents and I went to Yosemite, and a few forests in California in September 2023.Yes, it is hot out. That will give me sometime to work in doors. Im thinking I will be w/o a bolt for a couple of weeks.
we probably won’t get any rain for another five months, except a little in august. Ahem. There have been fires around. But places with summer rain don’t get many.
Dang man, seems that you will not have a chance to test out your rifle, cos of this hot weather. I will pray for cooler weather and rain for you. Seems that climate change, along with other factors is making California so hot. Hopefully, we can get cleaner energy down there in Cali.It was calm for about 50 years before 2018. It’s part of a regular cycle in chaparral to burn Wildly. That’s why I pray for cooler temperatures and early rain. Turns out we are getting about seven days of 100s, but this is summer and hot already. It’s an early summer.
Dang, that sounds awful. Glad I am not under a heat dome or under high UV index either right now. Be careful, and stay inside for a while until this passes.Yeah and the UV INDEX IS GETTING UP TO 10-11 everyday - extreme.
I hope that this hobby goes well. Maybe, go back to a different brand of riser, or use a form of tripod or a rest for your rifle. First, fix the backwards cantilever mount, and then you can move on from there. Also, if you bring the gun to a gun shop, you can ask the store owner for some helpful tips. He/she might be open enough to provide insight (pun intended) to help you find the parts you need.Mausers have such a long action and bolt. The way my scope is made there is not much room for it to move in the rings. So I wonder now if it will be set back enough toward the shooter fo r him to be within the eye relief. The previous riser had enough room in back to go beyond the base rail quite a ways- about two inches. I might have another problem. Not only that but when using a rifle rest I will be back farther so a good sight picture may not be possible. The bolt will be low enough but maybe an extended ring back might work. I just love shopping for this stuff for when I have money. There’s so much good different stuff out there for special projects. I always find what I’m thinking at the time and often cheap too.
one of those cantilever mounts put on backwards for a start.
