I'm new here and I need help. I can never read the Bible without fear that I'm going to hell. Hell disturbs me anyway and I don't wanna go there. What do I have to do? I'm quitting weed and other drugs and alcohol because I believe they are a sin. But I still smoke cigs and am struggling with that. Also I hear voices and noises from my environment that talk to me. I'm afraid they are God and I'm not following what they say to do. I'm alone in it because everyone just tells me its not real and that does not help me. Any advise? I'm scared please help!

While it's criticial to strive for, and it sounds like you are, you will never be perfect. Remember that you are forgiven and God loves you. You have nothing to fear from hell.

Welcome to CF. "There is no fear in love and God is love." If you are hearing voices it's either thin walls or in your imagination. God does not work this way rest assured of that. Seek some professional advise in the case it may be a condition you are unaware of.

Welcome to the forums!

God is love. He wants to save us all, but it's up to us to meet Him halfway, with a sincere heart and a desire to change our lives. The promises of God give us hope, not fear.

My advice is to have a sincere desire to know God, then go to Him in prayer and ask Him for help. Ask Him for forgiveness of sins, for peace and joy to enter your life. Ask for help overcoming the obstacles that are keeping you down and keeping you in the state you're in. Have faith that He can help, because He can and will. Set your sights on heaven, not on earthly things. Read God's word as if He is talking to you directly, because He is. Pray regularly, and build a relationship with Him. Seek fellowship with other Christians.

Substance abuse can cause brain and nerve damage. Auditory hallucinations and temptations haunted alcoholics and addicts. Studying nutrition and health food may be more productive.

As I tried to turn from substance abuse to Jesus 40 years ago, a female voice in my head was constantly reminding me, “You must not smoke another cigarette as long as you live.” I think it was an angel. I quit marijuana, stopped smoking and abstained from alcohol. This year I am free from marijuana and cigarettes. Some months I do not drink any alcohol, other months a drink or two when with family.

I used to read the Gospels much. God is good.

If you are a real person (and not some kid playing around) who is struggling. First it is not what you are doing but who you are trusting in. That is the only way to go to heaven and evade hell.

To receive God's free gift of Eternal Life:​

Believe that Jesus (of The Bible) is the promised Messiah from the prophecies of The Tanakh (Old Testament) and trust in The Messiah for God's free gift of Eternal Life, that is it if you look to Jesus for Eternal Life, you will have it and will never go to hell (as you put phrase it)

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
