I want some input from christians as I study the bible.
Welcome to CF! We have an
Exposition and Bible Study forum that may be what you’re looking for. If that’s not quite it, the entire Christian Scriptures area may be helpful, as well as our section for
Daily Devotionals.
You're very welcome. It's easier to read the intent behind what someone is saying if you're talking to them in person.
While this forum is by no means a replacement for the local church and a good in-person Bible study (COVID really brought that home to me: in-person interactions are essential), I’ve found that online interactions also have some advantages. For one thing, they make communication for people with mild to moderate cases of autism much easier, since online communication allows for verbosity without interruption in the middle. I cannot count the times that neurotypicals have interrupted me in the middle of an explanation they asked me to produce, making me feel enraged and frustrated. Online, they have to wait for me to finish my post.
Aside from this, sometimes it’s also easier to find help for various kinds of mental health conditions on here, since there are more people available. If you live in a small town or church and you’re the only one traumatized, it’s going to be far easier to get help here to point you in the right direction than trying to figure yourself out alone.
Then there’s the fact that people are more honest online because they are anonymous and the consequences are less. If a drug addict wants prayer to help them kick their habit, if they ask for prayer IRL people will swoop on them like an episode of
Intervention. If they ask for prayer here, we will just pray for them (and otherwise leave them alone).
Finally, many of the topics and posts here can just serve as reference sources because they remain online after they are done. I was looking through a very detailed breakdown of the Israel-Hamas war this morning, with links to various historical event references. This forum is, at points, a treasure trove of very accurate and detailed information, and so I hope you find some of it to be valuable.
These are just some of benefits that online communication provides, if you are looking for them.
