  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I didn't find that scene with Hiro learning how to use the sword from his father cheesy at all. The only problem I saw was that he learned a little too quickly. It takes years to master a sword, and even if he stopped time to do so, he would have aged. Despite that, I still thought it was pretty cool. :)

Yes, Sylar is evil. It is something we've known since the beginning. It looks like it might be coming down to a showdown between Sylar and Peter next week, and I think it will be with Hiro's help. I don't think that Sylar or Peter are going to go nuclear, though. How they stop it, though, is still up in the air.

I also think Molly is cute. It is unfortunate that Mohinder knocked out Matt, though, because I think he wouldn't have wanted to hurt Molly. Although this could be the catalyst that turns him to the "dark side" that we saw in the future.

I hope Ando doesn't die. I think part of what makes Hiro "Hiro" is his friendship with Ando. I do think that he probably will, though, which will be a bummer. That would mean Hiro will start becoming the more somber and serious Hiro we see from the future. I like his light-hearted, almost innocent, nature more.

Next Monday is it until Season 2. I can't wait to see what happens.

The Hiro sword bit made sense because of how this whole series focuses on heroes and good vs. evil and how they mix and mingle.. sacrifice and courage... all of those are mythical aspects and having a myth worked into the story makes sense. it draws out the themes even more.

it seems like Hiro's father may have been in the Company before it went "bad" and drifted from its original purpose. Hopefully he can lend more help later.

what powers did Mr. Petrelli (senior) have? and Mrs. Petrelli still hasn't revealed her place in the hierarchy or in the powers structure.

Petrelli Sr. didn't have any powers. This was explained in the comics online at the official Heroes website at NBC.com. You should check them out, they give a lot more information that expands upon what is revealed in each episode. :)

No, it was the six part one that took place during Vietnam, where Petrelli and Linderman first met. Petrelli had no power and Linderman did. Petrelli had a hard time grasping that anyone could have powers like that and didn't know how to react to it at first.

i read that one. how does that 'prove' that he didn't develop or discover his powers later? just wondering.

It doesn't necessarily prove anything, but I don't think they would alter that. It seems like they've used the comics to fill in some holes, not necessarily create new questions (IMO).

if someone hadn't read the comics (and it's more than likely most viewers don't) all they'd have for info would be Linderman's word that he had powers. So either that has to be resolved/debunked in the actual series or it should have been clearer that he was lying (which i really would never put past him). Since he's dead... well... there you go. it's up in the air as far as i'm concerned. It will probably be made clearer perhaps by Mrs. Petrelli. So many lies, so little time :D

Well, all Linderman said was "he was one of us." That doesn't mean he had powers. Look at Bennett, for example. Not everyone in the organization has a power.

You are correct, though. So many lies, so little time. ;)

Linderman demonstrated his power in the show by restoring the withering flower when he was talking with Nathan.
I don't think it's the same kind of self-regeneration power that Claire has since so far everyone's power is different. His power is probably healing others and not himself which is why he died and couldn't heal himself.

I had to find the part again... to see if I misheard it.

The quote is:
L: "Clearly your mother didn't tell you."
NP: "Tell me what?"
L:"Your father was one of us. Someone with great power. He tired to make a difference in the world, and did all he could, and that wasn't enough. He just gave up. . . Your father was weak."
NP:"My father was my hero."

after reading it, it's still up in the air. could go either way.

I agree. I don't read the comics (and don't want to, yes I know how great they are, I'm still not interested) and I don't think the comics would explain away something that seems to be a fairly major plot point based on what was said in the episode.

I'm leaning toward the idea that Mr. Petrelli did have powers, just that he was unaware of them at the time of the comics. It may even be something that would appear subtly, almost as a coincidence. It could even be why he was selected for that mission with Linderman, though we just don't have enough information.

I also think part of the reason Petrelli may have committed suicide (if it wasn't a staged suicide/heartattack to cover a murder) was because he could not accept the way "the company" was being taken by Linderman.

Agreed. I just think he was trying play up Nathan to do what he wanted. You know...make your dad proud kinda thing. Also, I don't think the future is written in stone. If they fix things, they shouldn't end up with Matt being a boogerhead, and all that stuff. :)

I've downloaded all the comics but haven't had a chance to read them yet. I've also heard that while the season ends next week, they are going to continue running the comics through the summer. I'd say that would make up for the having to wait to until the Fall for the story to continue, especially if they are going to offer new content in the comics.

Pretty cool ending to season 1. I liked seeing everyone there at the end and FINALLY understanding "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Hiro cursing in Japanese was priceless lol. And so the Heroes logo we've been seeing all along in the title is a new plot twist apparently?! And Molly mentioned a guy worse than Sylar...
