I am about to lose it! My 15 mos old daughter has this diaper rash that just WONT go away! Shes had it over 2 weeks now. Every diaper change i put SOMETHING on it. I have tried Desitin, Aquafor and A&D ointment...none of them work! i feel so bad for her. could she be allergic to something in one of these ointments? could she have a food allergy thats causing this? Any recommendations for a diaper creme that WORK?

my 2 sons never had diaper rash problems..EVER! i dont get this..what in the world do i do to get rid of this? HELP

what kind of diapers are you using? Some of them have allergens in them (Huggies has oats & Pampers has wheat gluten).

My son had a baaaaaad diaper rash, went away once we put him in cloth.

You had your pedi. check it? Somtimes airing it out will help more than ointments. The only Problem with that is you need to put them on a thick blanket and just watch for any bowel or bladder movement. You may also want to check if that's a yeast infection.

You might also do what we had to do for Boy number2. We had him in cloth diapers and washed them three times, once with powder / liquid and 2x in plain water.

thanks for all the advice. For starters i think i will switch her to the cloth diapers. (i already have wonderoos and motherease all-in-ones) what is the best way to wash them ? i think i will stop using the wipes i have and start using wash clothes because i wonder if some chemical on the wipes is causing this. i also am going to make an appt with the ped incase its a yeast infection.

thanks for all the advice

yep... and if it is a yeast infection-- plain yoghurt will do the trick (External only). Something about the probiotics
are you saying using plain yogurt on the outside the way you would use a diaper creme?

I'm voting for a yeast infection or juice reaction. When Gage had a bad rash the doctor told me what it was and why it hadn't been clearing up.
she rarely drinks any juice so i doubt that is it..but she does LOVE eating all kinds of FRUIT. could fruit cause it?

Certainly can! Can I suggest a little olive oil in the bath water (after she's clean, of course.) It soaks into the skin and can help form a barrier. As well you might like to consider cloth diapers rather than disposables.

Try Boudreaux's Butt Paste (funny name, but it seriously works wonders!!). My oldest daughter had the same problem. I couldn't get her to clear up even with cloth diapers, and I tried every diaper rash cream out there. It turned out to be some kind of fungal (yeast) infection. The Butt Paste has an anti-fungal ingredient in it and the rash went away within a day or two. That's the only diaper cream I use now.

Butt paste is wonderful! It's the only thing that worked with my nephew.

ok...thanks for telling me this..this rash STILL hasnt gone away...ill try it..where do i buy it? do i have to order it online?

Its a yeast rash, which explains why none of the rash cream worked since none of those target yeast, you can use lotrimin (yes really)

I wouldn't switch to cloth at this point because then you will have yeast infected diapers and that's hard to get out of cloth diapers.
what is lotrimin? where do i find it?

the rash is still coming and going...its not as bad since i stopped the desitin but flares up EVERY time she poops (acidy?)...ill try the butt paste and if that dont work then the lotrimin

This is going to sound like the strangest thing but the best thing I have ever found for diaper rash is Browned Flour. My son used to get such horrible rashes and a lady who lived next to me suggested that I put some regular all purpose flour in a pan and cook it until it turns a toasty brown..then let it cool and apply it just like baby powder...it works great and it's super cheap and all natural!
