HELP! diaper rash gone awry!

You can get the butt paste at Wal-Mart, too. I've seen it online, even on eBay.

what is lotrimin? where do i find it?


the rash is still coming and going...its not as bad since i stopped the desitin but flares up EVERY time she poops (acidy?)...ill try the butt paste and if that dont work then the lotrimin

Lotrimin AF works...I used it with my oldest when she had a yeast infection. It's in the aisle for athlete's foot creams. Nowhere on the label does it mention using it for a baby bottom, but that's what my pediatrician prescribed. It worked.

This diaper rash thing STILL hasnt been sorted out. The rash did start getting better with the use of the Boudroux butt paste, but i noticed every time my daughter has a loose poop, which is quite often, the rash flares up or starts all over again. this has been going on forever. (could the loose poop be due to breastfeeding?) I stopped using generic diapers yesterday and am back to pampers to see if it helps further. i have been loading her down with the butt paste and keeping the rash to a minimum..but when it flares up..its horrible..sometimes right after pooping the whole area is bright red and almost blistery looking!!!

do ya think she has oversensitive skin? do you think she is allergic to something? whats with the loose acidy poop?

any further advice?

It is a yeast rash. It won't go away until you treat for yeast.

one of my twins needed an antibiotic diaper rash cream.

i'd go to the drs.

Eek not if its a yeast rash. Antibiotic cream would make it worse, much much worse.

Don't know if it would help but try yogurt (non flavored, plain) in case it's yeast, and of course garlic oil (some garlic cloves steeped very very low in olive oil) Garlic is great for getting rid of yeast and bacterias.

We go to the doctors on monday because they think my daughter has a yeast infection. Its bright red. The nurse mentioned Lotromin on the phone until the doc said he wanted to see her. Hope something works for you child!

Ok..i really dont think its a yeast infection but i will keep it in mind. Since i switched from the generic to the pampers the rash has gone away...if it comes back..ill just go straight to the lotrimin AF then. She also hasnt had acidy poop in days. i dont know if its the diapers or the acidy poop or both or what? ill wait and see if she has another acidy poop and if it causes a huge flare up again..

I don't really understand why you are against it being a yeast rash. Even if it is not, using lotrimin will not hurt, and you are describing a classic yeast rash. It is probably uncomfortable. You can also give live yogurt, cut sugar from the diet, and give straight probiotics in something like applesauce.

My son had a diaper rash that became a yeast infection which became impetigo (a staph infection on his leg). Does the rash have little round circles accompaning the main rash? If so, get some clotrimazole at Wal-Mart (it's really cheap but should clear it up quickly, it's an anti fungal and safe for babies behinds) and put some on twice a day If the rash develops a yellow "honey crust" it's staph and get him/her to the pediatrician stat for some antibiotic cream.
