Jonah, not Scripture. Jonah. It wasn't what the narrative said. It was what Jonah said. Not God. I like that you took it out of context:
From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help,
in the realm of the dead
Scripture says:Taking my post out of context because...Well not explained, but possibly because of hatred for what the Scripture says
So let's edit the Scripture to match YOUR narrative:Jonah prays two places.
First he prayed from hell-the realm of the dead - as in he had
drowned. God heard that prayer - it was over.
Later, - back in the fish where his body was - he now prays
again to God. During this prayer, he speaks as to how God
had earlier heard his prayer that was prayed from the belly
of hell.
When people pray they sometimes refer to how God answered
them in the past. That is what Jonah did.
Jonah is not referring in 2:2 as to just then crying, but by this
time - God had already heard his prayer. Jonah is not saying
to God about being in hell and please hear my voice. Jonah is
speaking of something that already happened.
Now, though he is recalling that time when praying inside of
the fish.
Jonah chapter 1 ends as to showing the time for chapter
2 to begin. Jonah's body has been in the whale, but before
that he was in the realm of the dead-with other dead people -
in hell. He prayed and God heard his voice from that area of
the location in hell.= the realm of the dead -as in souls
That's the point. Jonah saying he was in hell is exaggeration. The reference to Sheol is poetic language. Cf Ps 18:5, 30:3, 49:15, 86:13, 116:3,
I love how you cut out the "out of the belly of the fish" part. So I guess that isn't really in Scripture. It's a lie. Good to know. Now I'll just throw the entire book out of my Bible. Thank you for proving the book of Jonah isn't really Scripture because it lies when it says he prayed only out of the belly of the fish.Jonah is put back into his body and begins to pray telling
us how he had prayed in the past from hell and was heard.
Jonah 1:27
"...three days and three nights."
2:1
"Then Jonah prayed..."
2:3
"And said, I cried...out of the belly of hell...heardest..."
/mine affliction
What affliction?
"For Thou hadst cast me into the deep..."
2:6
"...down to the bottoms...from corruption..."
2:7
"When...my prayer came..."
Jonah is referring to how he had prayed before he was inside
of the fish.
