He's a human high priest who lives forever; being immortal helps with that.
Ok, I can understand your point on that. But again, John 1:1 In the beginning was the word, the word was with God, the word was God.

What are you disagreeing with?
I'm disagreeing with your interpretation of Hebrews 9:6-10 It's talking about the human high priests and their rituals imposed upon them. Not about what's new with the New Covenant. My question to you was please put in your own word what you believe is new about the New Covenant?

Do you want a definition?
I would like you to tell some or all of the new things in the New Covenant that were not in the Old. It's already clarified that we are free from the law of sin and death, we no longer have to rely on a human high priest who will die, so what else is new?

Okay. I can't promise to be exhaustive, in fact I have no intention of trying to be.
  • Believe in Jesus Christ
  • Love one another as Christ loved us
  • Freedom to eat anything as long as it is eaten with thanks to God
  • Be tolerant of differences when a brother (or sister) is scrupulous about some matters that are really indifferent
  • Meet together to pray and worship
  • Sing psalms and spiritual songs to encourage one another
  • We are the temple of God the building in Earthly Jerusalem is no longer significant
  • We are a holy nation and a royal priesthood even though we are not all natural descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob the nation of Israel is no longer significant
  • Christ is our high priest
  • We offer pure sacrifice a perfect oblation to God it is a sacrifice of praise
  • Receive the body and the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Be baptised in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
The list would be much longer if I tried to be exhaustive.

Those are not covenant promises nor are they "new" things to the New Covenant. Even in the OT the heathen, if they desired, could repent and join in on the blessings. It does say all things are allowed but not all things are beneficial. There are some things that God said is not food. Sure you can technically put it in your mouth, chew it, and swallow it but that does not make it food. My dog eats cat poop but it's not food.

Can we be for real here. Coming into this forum/congregation and asking questions is one thing, but acting like their is little difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant that Jesus died for us to have is quite another.

Maybe this thread needs to be closed now.

Coffee? You can request it closed as the OP. I think things are getting border-line offensive.

You asked and I answered. Everything in the list is taken from holy scripture. Those who want to observe kosher can but it is not an obligation and if it is made one then making it so is a sin.
I know they are from scripture, but they are not exclusive to the New Covenant. 1 Cor 10:23 is scripture too. I did not make it an obligation, just told you what God said is food and what is not. :)

I could have it closed, but some who are participating and others who are reading have obtained a benefit from what's been discussed so far and God willing more will benefit. If there is something offensive report it and it will likely be removed by the moderators.

I'm sorry you are taking offense. Having a new High Priest who never will die is a huge difference. I don't take it lightly. However, I'm curious as to what you think are the new covenant promises that are not in the old. What is offensive about that question?

It's not a concern. You said you didn't get it.

The followers of the Messiah were almost all Jews.

By definition, that is a sect of Judaism.

Yeshua said He was the prophet from the Torah.

Without knowing the Torah, how would someone be able to confirm or deny that fact?
no, one can be Jewish and follow the Lord, but judaism is not Christianity, the 'ism" is the issue.

Since the Torah is the first 5 books of the bible, I think that Christians indeed understand and have studied the Torah as you call it.

I hope that this puts into perspective for you what most Christians do in fact know and understand. If you have further questions about Christianity, feel free to ask us and not make statements that assume a lack of knowledge.

Tell me what you are offended by and maybe I can clear up the misunderstanding. Also, I have not "come into" this forum, I belong here. I'm charismatic and have been here for over 10 years.

I think your quote is far too selective. The dietary laws were from the time of Moses until the time of reformation came and now that time has come and those laws are annulled; furthermore God said to Noah "And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things." (Genesis 9:2-3 KJV) So it is evident that the foods that ancient Israel could not eat were forbidden to them as a sign but not because those foods are bad or unfit for eating. Hence the apostle says "For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving" (1 Timothy 4:4 KJV)

Really? So what you are saying is that anyone could have participated in the Old Covenant between Israel and God? That it was open to all the heathens who repented? Where is repenting in mosaic law or the Old Covenant? That is not in the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant was between Israelite's and God.
