Really???? Was that necessary?
You know, four-letter words don't really bother me too much, but to see our Lord's name taken in vain, in this forum, really stuns me.

I agree. Please edit your post, Unorthodox.Really???? Was that necessary?

No, they are incarcerated for hooliganism. As gracefullamb has said, the same thing in the US would likely be called disorderly conduct, with a potential punishment of possibly up to two years in jaol, probation, community service, and/or a fine of up to $3,000. Not quite the same as the possible 7 years in the Russian system, but far from nothing at all. These chicks are incarcerated for speaking their mind. How many people in the U.S. are long-term incarcerated for their opinions?
Excuse me? 1000-3000$ fee?
What about the atheist buss campaign?
They weren't punished in any way. And what they did was pretty rediculous and insulting!
Yet these guys didn't do anything at all and they have to pay fees or go to jail for 5 months?
Just for protesting?

When I read the first half of her letter, it says they played in subway stations and on the roof of some place, and all around without any arrests, I'm wondering if it's because it was done in the Church, which was, of course, not the place to do that, and yes, not respectful. Why weren't they arrested for hooliganism (which it does say was the reason on the link) before this at the other places they were? Or maybe they were, but I don't recall reading her letter saying they were. No, they are incarcerated for hooliganism. Pretending it is "only" about what they said is just plain dishonest.
Perhaps there were no public complaints. Perhaps prosecutors finally just had enough. When I read the first half of her letter, it says they played in subway stations and on the roof of some place, and all around without any arrests, I'm wondering if it's because it was done in the Church, which was, of course, not the place to do that, and yes, not respectful. Yeah. I don't know all the details of exactly what they did in the Church, and I'd like to know what they sang - the lyrics. I don't know why. Just curious or nosy or something.Perhaps there were no public complaints. Perhaps prosecutors finally just had enough.
I don't "know", I'm just speculating, but I am sure that doing this in front of the Altar of the church caused a number of complaints, and was the cause of the initial arrest and charges. Their history of doing the same in other places, and escalation as a publicity stunt won't play in their favor... But like I said, I am hoping the court will go very easy on them.
I'd be interested too... But we have enough injustice in our own judicial system, that I'd never be able to learn the details of them all.Yeah. I don't know all the details of exactly what they did in the Church, and I'd like to know what they sang - the lyrics. I don't know why. Just curious or nosy or something.
I don't think I want to know it all.I'd be interested too... But we have enough injustice in our own judicial system, that I'd never be able to learn the details of them all.
Like the 67 medical marijuana patients either currently in prison or on trial in California for using the medicine their doctor had recommended? What violent and horrific criminals we incarcerate in the US!I don't think I want to know it all.
How many people in the U.S. are long-term incarcerated for their opinions? My state is a good example of prisons out of control. But if you look at most of these dirtbags filling our state prisons, they're gang-bangers, drug-dealers, killers, armed robbers, child molestors, fraud, grand theft auto, etc. They deserve to be in there. Americans aren't guilty of incarcerating the innocent as much as they're guilty of having a crime-infested culture. We can criticize Russia for stuff like this, but we certainly can't claim to have the corner on virtuous citizenry! Our country is the most violent culture on Earth it seems. But we don't jail punk bands for the most part!
Perhaps he's really sincere on what he said and isn't concerned with looking good?I'm wondering if Putin is just being like all other politicians in seeing the backlash and the constant news stories spread about this all over the world (for the past couple months, 3/4's of the google Orthodox news alerts have been about this and then when I saw MYSTAGOGY's link on FB, I figured I'd figure out more of what was going on), that he stated his opinion for leniency so that he looked good. I'm cynical of politicians, and not just the ones in this country.
I'd like to know exactly what the lyrics to their song were. The name of their band is offensive to me, but I felt compassion for the gal when I read her letter (haven't finished reading the whole thing yet, though).

Aw, Daniel, you couldn't help to bring up one of the issues that you are very passionate about.Like the 67 medical marijuana patients either currently in prison or on trial in California for using the medicine their doctor had recommended? What violent and horrific criminals we incarcerate in the US!
Now I'm scared to click the play button. I'd rather read the lyrics. If you want to see what they did (and said):
[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] Riot-Punk Prayer.mp4 - YouTube
Eh, I think there's a small possibility of that. If he's anything like our politicians, I'd have a hard time believing that.Easy G (G²);61110603 said:Perhaps he's really sincere on what he said and isn't concerned with looking good?
Apparently!"Imagine a man in public office that everybody knew where he stood. We wouldn't call him a statesman, we would call him a curiosity." ~ Will Rogers
"Politics is a great character builder. You have to take a referendum to see what your convictions are for that day." ~ Will Rogers
Apparently politics doesn't change much regardless of time or country.
