Talking about what Jesus talked about but from an opposite viewpoint is hardly witchcraft. Anti-Christ perhaps. But then again mankind glorifies the 'dark' side everyday as the default setting for humankind. Jesus says to serve others, while man continues to serve self. Doesn't get much darker than that.A poster just gave a lengthy report of the real account...
I was comparing sin to sin. I didn't say that child rape specifically happened in the books. I'm saying that you can't condemn one type of sin and gloss over another.Yeah it is.

One could watch a fantasy movie about raping children but is it okay because it's fantasy?
Harry Potter is rife with witchcraft, necromancy, and every ungodly practice you can think of.
No Christian should have anything to do with it or expose their children to it.

Try reading for comprehension.
The Bible is full of rape, incest, murder, prostitution, betrayal and adultery. Do you read the Bible?
The Bible has stories about rape, murder, incest, prostitutes, adultery and betrayal.
Again sir have you boycotted starwars? If not then it is hypocritical to watch a new age force from within, while saying Harry potter is evil. You have to at least be consistent if you wish to convert people to your view.Yeah, but Harry Potter and his friends seem really nice. How can they be evil? I am sure Jehovah's Witnesses can seem nice, and Mormons can seem nice, too. But that does not mean that they are not in serious error and not of God. You might as well start watching Mormon movies, and JW movies if it is just fantasy, right? It doesn't matter. Or does it? I am sure it does. If you fill your mind with junk, junk will come back out. It's the law of sowing and reaping.

I don't disagree with the sin of hollywood. But I think that putting a line in the sand that everyone SHOULD do the same thing, is not good. 'to His master he rises or falls" The Bible says in romans 14. So to start all these sort of legalistic threads is not really biblical. And further more, most christian movies I watch are drama's which means they had a crisis of faith at one point. This can encourage people to doubt their faith. So again the issue is not really dividing between secular and christian. The content is the same in both sides. There is worse content in a pg13 christian drama than in a disney rated G movie, by far. I have walked away from some christian dramas' doubting my faith, while I have come away from disney movies relatively with a good feeling, namely the good people win and the evil lose. So anyway, I am unsubscribing. I just feel bad about people who actually adhere to this dogma of yours. It's sad to me. But whatever. There is alot of misinformation out there in the world. IF you are desiring to purify your mind, read up on parental reviews of movies put out by hollywood. Is the christian movie industry good? Yes I think so. I like the documentary and other movies done regarding biblical stories, that stuff I eat up. I just don't know about all the drama's for twenty years christian films were all dramas, now they are getting into action and that is a good thing. Anyway, if you want to know more, message me. But for now I wont' be replying anymore to this thread. It grieves the Holy Spirit inside of me too much.Yes. I boycott all forms of secular entertainment. I am even now on the fence about Christian movies.
Here are my favorite Christian films:
What Christian Movies Do You Find To Be The Most Rewatchable?
I stopped watching popular secular entertainment like Star Wars, Star Trek, James Bond, Marvel movies, etc. since 2016.

Cis.jd, I have conversed and debated with you before, many times. You are far too intelligent of a person for me to believe that you do not understand the simple fact that if something is not of the Lord, the bible, Godly or righteous according to the scripture... then it can only be from one other camp.... Satan.
So, if you can show me in the scripture where people waved around wands and chanted little phrases in order to accomplish some supernatural result.... Then, I'll believe you.
Otherwise, I will stick to the idea that this is not even close to being from God... and therefore... it is from Satan.. and is presented like a wolf in sheep's clothing, to the children and youth of this world in order to peek their interest in witchcraft and Satanic practices.
I used the copy and insert feature. I'll repeat the process and see if there is a problem with the copy and insert feature to see if something is wrong. Why would you post a "quote" of mine and change what I said?
God never used "magic". He used His all powerful ability.
This is where we differ. I don't believe that just because something is not of God (at face value at least) then it automatically becomes affiliated with satan. It's all about the intention and the outcome behind it all.
There are many examples in history of things said to be of God. We've had many pastors who've had various scandals (i'm linking short video as a ref) using the Bible as a basis. Other than that we have christians who have killed gypsies, Jews, indigenous tribes, and in Salem all because of the accusation of witchcraft and occult. They all stated and believed their views are of God, and they've cited the Bible verses that "supported" them, and a good portion really believed this.
This is why we can't just ship any random magic based entertainment as satanic, because we are making that same mistake that ended up giving a bad image of christianity in an intellectual and moral level. That is what satan wants.
Can you clarify what your first sentence is challenging me on exactly, I've never argued that christians do magic.
Would you also recommend that Christians stay away from C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia? The whole Harry Potter is not bad because is fiction excuse does not work. Jesus condemned the mind sin of lust (Which is fantasy) in Matthew 5:28-30. We are told to cast down imaginations and lead every thought captive in obedience to Christ Jesus in 2 Corinthians 10:5. Harry Potter is the glorification of witchcraft. God condemned witchcraft heavily in the Old Testament. To think about something sinful in a fantasy way does not make it any less sinful. Is cartoon porn okay? Surely not. Just because it is pure fantasy does not undo the fact that sin is being pushed or communicated upon the viewer. It's wrong. Harry Potter is a promotion of witchcraft in a fantasy setting.
Witch craft is real. A poster just gave a lengthy report of the real account...
HP is founded in witchcraft and intices children to investigate and pursue it's attraction.
Well, if it's not of God and in His foundational will and purpose... and it is using "supernatural" events and abilities... it is of Satan..
There is no "third" source of supernatural power... It is either of God.. or the enemy.
I agree. Many people use twisted biblical basis for doing evil and un Godly actions... This doesn't change the fact that anything like this... is either of God... or deception and action of the enemy.
All those things done "in God's name" are sins against God and people...
It's pretty simple to research and investigate things to figure out who the people are serving. It just takes a bit if effort.
My point was that when you have people doing chants, and pointing wands and making things happen to inanimate objects or other people being affected outside their will or ability... then it is not of God...
Unless you can show scripture where God had people doing such a thing.. and it was not absolutely apparent that the power was directly from Him... Like Moses staff separating the Red Sea or making water come from a rock.... Which, by the way, was not done with a magical chant or incantation....
HP is rife with this anti God power.

I think you might perhaps be a little too legalistic in your thinking.Yes, absolutely.

You’re a lot like the weaker brother that Paul addressed in his letter to the Corinthians.
For you, you may need to stay away from Narnia due to your history and weak flesh, but there’s certainly nothing inherently wrong with enjoying and reading the Narnia series.
I would even go so far as to suggest that you could learn a lot from Lewis, who certainly was more mature in his faith than you are at the present time.
Yes, absolutely.
