OPENLY gay U.S. Rep.Barney Frank got caught blatantly fondling an up-and-coming politician's buttocks at a public event. According to gay weekly the Washington Blade, the frisky Frank was escorting rising gay politico Mike Evans into the VIP section at Philadelphia's Equality Forum when . . .(snip)

....(It) was caught by alert photogs covering the event, and the pictures soon surfaced on the Internet . . .

Mike Evans didn't complain. What is the problem? Seems like more of a private matter between him and his boyfriend.

Mike Evans looks like a kid. Imagine the to-do if a 65 year old Republican congressman did this to a 20ish woman at a public event. De facto harassment due to his position. Wouldn't matter if the woman complained or not.

And if a gay 65 year old Republican did this, the picture would be on the front page of the New York Times with an editorial inside demanding he resign from office.

My girlfriend has a baby face but she older then me. What is the point? He looks like a kid but he is an adult. I would care if he did it to a woman or a man. It's his personal business. I don't think he should resign. He did it as a gay event. Worst things happen at gay events. I didnt read anything about him being asked to resign.

If there was a 65 year old gay Republican Congressman, Republicans would already be demanding that he resign years before anything like this happened.

I fail to see why this is news on a Christian website. Why all of the focus on gay issues Voegelin? You seem to know about this stuff way before I hear about it.

One more note: The NYT would be demanding that he resign due to the hypocricy of his position at a molestive gay republican. If they found a white democratic Senator trafficing in black slaves, something tells me that they would also be having coniptions.

That said, to the more sexually liberal democrats, it's less of a problem if an elected official has sex while in office because the democrats aren't the ones on platforms supporting "traditional marriages" and "abstinence only education."

If these two consenting adults had a previous relationship where physical contact was considered fine, then there is no problem

If there was no such agreement and it was done without consent, then there is a problem: that would be nonconsensual sexual physical contact. (as opposed to accidentally bumping into someone in a crowded subway, which is non-sexual and just plain annoying)

This appears to be a case of the former instead of the latter. A little tacky at a public event, but no big deal, no harassment was reported.

That Lanny Davis/Vic Kamber talking point from the Clinton era (which has proved to be a disaster for the party) only applies to Democrats.

Last year there was a liberal campaign against my Rep for being gay. Democrats from D.C. "outed" him. They were in a little snit about him. But so clueless they were, and still are, aware that nobody cares. Nobody cared a decade ago when most everyone knew, and nobody cared in 2004.

However when Barney Frank had a young boy living in his townhouse running a teenage gay prostitution ring out of it, well, Democrats thought that was OK.

Maybe my Rep should start acting like Barney Frank. he will get the regular GOP support and Democrats who believe Frank is an upstanding citizen.

I was once a gay republican but I switched over as soon as the religious conservatives came forward as the lead representation of the party. Even the log cabin republicans didn't support Bush in the last election and that has been a republican gay group for years. No has a problem with a gay republican even though in this day and age to some it seems like an oxymoron. The problem isn't the party it's the religious backing that people have a problem with.

I don't know the story of Barney Frank but could you provide a new story.
