See i can understand where Ronny Rulz is coming from but it's not that simple.
'Get Real and go to Wal Mart' - what about the people who supply walmart with their livestock. Do they not have to protect their investment? What if you were raising a herd of cows to be slaughtered in order to meet your order of 12 sides of beef to your local butcher but a pack of jackals continued to kill off your herd - would you not kill the jackal in order to meet your order?
I understand exactly where you are coming from when you say 'I will never ever pick up a gun ever again' becuase Guns Take Away Lives. But as I said in my previous post, so do cars. When I get in my car, I hardly ever think to myself, 'If I make one wrong move, I could and will probably kill someone.'
But we have positive and necessary use for cars. Not only are they a source of convenience, they are essential to the running of our world: Taking our mail, transporting not only people, medical supplies, urgent documents even animals. They provide a use even though they have the potential to be negative - much like humans to God. We are designed to do his purpose, but many of us don't and just use our potential for other, less important uses (at least at some point in our lives - even Paul was a sinful tax collector before writing half the the New Testament).
In terms of Guns, we do need them - just that all of us do not need them. Inherently, by using guns we automatically allow the negative use of guns because somewhere down the line, someone is going to abuse the power and there will be 'weeping and gnashing of teeth'. We need guns, to protect our livestock, for competitions, for hunting itself (yes people still hunt for food - maybe not in the Western World but guns are great hunting tools) and to protect ourselves. Some Christians believe that we should not protect ourselves, and adopt the 'turn the other cheek' parable that Jesus so rightly said (I agree), but how far do you take that idea? For example, if we disarmed all our forces, and withdrew from every war and conflict that we were into, what if a group came with guns to shoot us and kill us. Would we not shoot back and just be killed or do we continue in our ways of 'Kill or Be Killed'?
Here's one thing that makes me raise those points. I was reading Luke and I believe in everything that Jesus says, the ability to turn the other cheek is one every CHristian must have but watch this.
Luke 22:35 - 38 - Jesus was about to be arrested- 'When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?'
'Nothing.'
'But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag and if you don't have sword, sell your cloak and buy one.'
'See Lord, here are two swords.'
'That is enough'
