  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You are closer than you think Dvd_holc. One of the quests in Lion's Arch, given by the NPC Malaquire who is found inside the town I believe, will give you a free signet of capture. The tricky part is, Malaquire has a ho-hum normal quest for you first with boring rewards that you must complete before he offers this quest with the capture signet as the reward. Actually he gives you two signets of capture, technically, since that second quest is to capture a skill, he gives you one to work with, and another one as the reward at the end. And yes, you do get to keep the skill you choose to capture for the quest permanently like any other skill you choose to capture.

Fyi, there's a bug in Lion's Arch where some people don't see the "!"s over NPCs' heads, so talk to Malaquire even if he doesn't look like he has a quest for you. Same goes for the other NPCs in Lion's Arch, there's even a merchant with a quest for you in there!

Additionally, there's a bug where sometimes when you're collecting rewards from NPCs that are also skill trainers, you can't really equip the skills you win (if a quest ended on them that had skills as rewards). It's no biggie, you still learned the skill, just travel somewhere after and travel back and that NPC will be working normally again and you can equip your skills yourself. Watch out for the NPC Grey-something-or-other in the Ascalon settlement, you have to change maps and travel back sometimes to get all of his quests because of this (he wont offer the next quest after you complete a quest sometimes because of this bug until you change maps and come back). Pain in the butt, but it doesn't hurt anything.

I cheat.

j/k! :D

Once you've gone through the quests and missions the first time, it's much easier the 2nd time obviously. Not to say you've memorized all of them, but it'll come back to you during them or you'll just have an easier time with them in general. Also go for the bonuses in the missions, as it's an extra 1000XP. I play the arenas for a bit before I'm over level 10 and before I'm over level 15 to get some XP that way.

Otherwise just do the quests and missions as they come, in rapid successioin and you'll gain that XP. Since it's the summer and I have no school or job, I can play more often, at least 2 hours almost everyday. That helps too. :D

So your members of ToJ but not SoE?

I'm a member of ToJ, and I started a guild, since I didn't find one on there, then found out you guys did a guild, but named it SoE. I just decided to keep ToJ and just keep it small and have some fun.

I'm lvl 19 now with my monk and I have to do Elona's Reach before ascension. It's proving rather hard though because I keep on getting in groups where people are quitters or rushers or both who aggro everything in sight.

It seems I was very fortunate to get into rather GREAT random groups with my other character, never had this much trouble doing these missions.

I need to get on there, but I don't have any real time to game yet...just a little time every now and then, and so I just hop onto BF2. :( Hopefully in a few days things should settle down enough.

Lol, I think our guild set records for the ascension missions. Once we traveled to (from Augury) and did all three ascension missions in like an hour and a half, maybe two.

Our personal best for Thirsty River is around 12 minutes of timer time, about 15 minutes total. I really shouldn't toot my own horn though, it was my guild mates that really made that possible, not my contribution.

Advice? Get guild mates with Forge armor and great skills to tow you through the ascension missions instead of trying to do them with random people. Additionally, for Reach, don't return a stone thingy, get both first and then take both back. That allows you to take an easier route, but it's difficult to describe the route exactly.

Say what? I don't understand at all. :p

Oh yeah and the first time I ever did Elona's with my other lvl 20 character, I went with this guy and 4 others, but the 1 guy told us to ALL stay up at the crystal shrine thing while he goes and gets the 2 crystals by HIMSELF. Sure enough we all stay up there and he comes back in a few minutes with the 1st piece, then a few minutes later with the 2nd piece. Now that I'm trying to do it normally with 6 people and failing badly, that is quite an amazing feat. :D

I'm finally lvl 20 with my monk and made it to Draknor's Forge, took me like 10 tries to beat the doppleganger. Sheesh. I actually killed him twice 2 different attempts before it cut to the cutscene. First time I died but had cast a smiting spell that does damage for 5 seconds and so it killed himself like a second after I died, so I got the XP and levelled up. The 2nd time I died at the same exact time he died, we gave each other the final blow at the same time lol. But somehow I guess that's alright since it let me go through.

I really need to get on and start lvling at least one of my toons but I've been enjoying my DAoC necro too much lately. I've only got 4 more days of the 10 day "come back" thing so I'll likely be back to GW soon. I wish I could just take my necro from game to game with me. :D
