• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I see 'lots of ripples' in this pond

Let me throw in another brick and see what happens

:D

Imagine ...... a huge expanse of ...N O T H I N G

Nothing, except a 'singularity'.... ~the tiniest speck of energized matter

and this tiny 'speck' is so overloaded, by gravitational forces that it turns inside out
so, releasing it's content into the huge expanse of NOTHING

A SUPERMASSIVE 'Black Hole' so massive
that it collapses under it's own weight and inertia
and bleeds out
in a tumultuous torrent of matter, and gravitational energy

B A N G !!!!!!

Over Millennia
this matter and energy, is dispersed, throughout the expanse of NOTHING
and a "universe", then continues to grow [expand]
Meanwhile, smaller Black Holes grow and grow
and then merge into more massive Black Holes
so dense and heavy that they too, will collapse under their mass and gravity
and bleed, at light-speed, into another 'universe' ~ad infinitum

Ah.... but where is the miracle ?

You are one!!!

Meh, metaphorical miracles are a dime a dozen.

It ccould be just what it looks like, history.
If you can't fit all of history into a 6015-year timeframe, then I would say some things need to go.

I realize mathematically that the ratio is 1:759,767.25 years; but then, gradualism & uniformitarianism tend to inflate and make our past longer than it is.

You mean longer as compared to various mythical accounts.

I am not constrained by such presuppositions.

Sorry I'm not up to speed on this one. I'll just go with what the evidence of historical events indicates.

I mean like mythical creation stories,
Like abiogenesis?

Remember? in the abortionists' mindset, life doesn't begin until after birth; yet [pun]in the same breath[/pun], they claim abiogenesis has yet to be observed.

Scientists, of course, came to Sat... er ... come to their rescue by sticking the word "viable" in there somewhere.*

* I think first it was stuck in the first trimester, then the second, then the third -- now it's just after birth.

Yeah, so Israel is a miracle for a people that doesn't believe in God?
Atheists are going to see a miracle too.

So effective in fact, they will become believers.

I'll just go with what the evidence of historical events indicates.
You mean you'll go with what you're told?

SN1987A, for example, happened how long ago, according to scientific philosophy?

Yet SN1987A is judged to have happened that "long ago" because of its distance -- not because of an observed passage of time.

Is something being seen 10 million light years out?

Why, there's only one conclusion! Its light took 10 million years to get here!

Well, it might be your only conclusion, but for us guys that get accused of being "narrow-minded," we aren't tied down like you guys are.
