festival socks! what an exciting concept!

lol. Several times a year, we had 'special' weekends (Corps Anniversary, YP Weekend, Band Weekend, Songster weekend, Corps Cadet Weekend, etc etc etc). On those occasions we had a Saturday evening meetinf as well as the three Sunday meetings (Yes, three).

The Saturday night meeting was known as a festival.

For some reason it was OK to wear non plain black socks on thjose occassions.

The only other difference seemed to be that it was OK to applaud after the band and songsters performed.

A 'habit' that may well not be exclusively SA but certainly applied to the SA while I was there was clapping in the chorus of a song but not the verse. What was the reason behind that? I still find that a hard one to break!

I dunno. Just the way it's done I guess.

It's not unknown for people to clap during the verse as well though.

Still a long way from the days when a particularly stirring song would lead to a glory march.

Never see those these days

May God bless you Andy with your new uniforum and continue to bless you with growth in your faith.

What level will you be? (I hope that is okay for me to ask).

Hi Debbie.

Welcome to Cyber Corps. Now you have found us, I hope we will see much more of you.

When i go back into uniform I will do so as a soldier. We don't have the rank of 'Private' in the Army, but I guess that would be what it would amount to.

There are various ranks of non commissioned officers in the Army, known as local officers, who assist the Commanding Officer (Minister) in the running of the Corps (church).

But a soldier is not initially enrolled with any of these ranks, he/she is enrolled as a 'soldier'.
