I think Chick should organise a coup.
I'd support it.

I personally find the high collar uniforms of times past very nice!
I had to respond to this as it took me back in time about 17 years. That's when I stopped wearing SA uniform but the high-necked tunic was what we were wearing at the time! They had a white cord on the inside of the neck which needed replacing as they became dirty, I recall. And it was bonnets rather than hats too! It wasn't the most comfortable thing to wear but I guess I wore it for about three years.
I came out of uniform for similar reasons to those expressed here and on the other uniform thread. I wasn't in any of the sections and just wore my uniform to the Army on a Sunday morning, it seemed fairly pointless and of limited witness, IMO. We stayed at the Army (my DH had been involved with the SA since childhood, an officer's kid; I was a newbie) until 2000 when we moved house and church at the same time. It was a relief for me in many ways as I had felt God pulling us away for some time. I found it difficult too to be in a church where issues such as baptism and Holy Communion were not satisfactorily addressed, for me anyway. However, we keep in contact with our friends from the Corps, in fact my closest friend is an adherent there, so the parting has been entirely amicable! And the in-laws are still involved with the Army so it is not out of our lives completely! I was at a funeral at the Corps last Friday and just being in the hall again with the familiar faces reminded of the good things about being a soldier there. However, there is no doubt in my mind that we are now where God wants us to be and we are all content to grow there..until further instruction!!
Apologies for the ramble, but that's what happens when I get nostalgic!
Ick! If it was high necks and bonnets, I would have never joined!
I do like some of the old old pictures of ladies wearing uniform dresses though!
Glad to hear your thinking of going into uniform again, SP & S will be the biggest hurdle, uniforms are not made like they used to be and boy they can't get the sizing correctHopefully going to be meeting up with Captain during the next week or so to get things started on me going back into uniform.
It's a fairly lengthy process, so the sooner I start....
And I have again been invited to band practice this week, and have agreed to go. Just to observe you understand. been many years since I picked up an Eb Bass, and need to get some practice in on my own.
My mom got in trouble once, she was in the league of mercy and went to do hospital visits in a big storm (rain and wind a la wet coast). Her hair came down and she was reported for having messy hair under her bonnet.

The uniform will be an expensiv ehurdle for me, but the Lord will provide a way for me.
Testimony time!
When God was bugging me about uniform (something you may have gathered I am still not altogether sold on!) I tol Him that if he wanted me in uniform, he would have to provide it. I told no-one, and started recruit's classes...
By the time the 10 weeks were up- I had the whole thing. An elderly soldier felt led to give me his PTGd wife's blouses (beautiful condition). A tunic and skirt were found in the attic at the Corps. Trimmings were gathered.
Annoying really![]()
What sort of socks were you wearing?
I played a BBb tuba myself...I had an Eb, but never learned how to play it...never was good at transposing...I sure would like to learn again
the Shriners have me playing drums for them in thier band....don't really have to worry about a uniform, but the hat is just ugly!
