  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's where the rest of Psalm 19 comes in:

Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

God reveals Himself to man in two ways:

1. General revelation = nature.

2. Special revelation = the Bible.

Psalm 19 speaks of both types.

The problem is that the two don't match up to each other, at least not the way some people interpret Genesis.

As Ken Fleming points out, people used to think Psalm 19 was two different Psalms, since the first half speaks of creation, then the second half abruptly switches to God's word.

But the truth is, God reveals Himself to us in two ways:

1. General Revelation = nature

2. Special Revelation = the Bible

I can't believe I never get a straight answer.

Let me simplify my OP.

Does God have the power to teach about himself and the Book etc, WITHOUT humans spreading the word for him?

If so. How? How do uneducated people learn about God if they never speak to anyone about God?

You do not think God exists. So have you learned anything about God? No, you don't.

But I do.

How come I learned but you didn't learn?

I learned about God the same way you did... Other people telling me.

Ok spurred by another post, could someone explain to me, if there is only "One true God"
How is it that there are people on this planet who have never heard of such?

Does God not have the power to form belief without the help of man?

Surely each God is simply a learned piece of knowledge, so if no one had ever told you about God, this would mean you have no knowledge of his/her/it's existence and therefore do not believe or love in any such deity.

Would this then mean that in the realm of the Christian bible, these innocent untaught people would not be allowed into heaven for non belief?

If this is the case, why would God not teach them himself or send someone to teach them.

Does this mean that God has no power and relies on man to spread his own word?

.

Ned,

It is simple. Read Romans 8:14

Then read Galatians 5:17 with Genesis 6:3.

You guys who have become acquainted to resisting the Spirit and have chosen to walk in unbelief talk ignorance about the Spiritual Realm in our midst, like it's not there.

How did you learn it then?
Are you seriously trying to tell me that you know of God and Jesus and the message etc... without a single person explaining and teaching it to you?

I do believe you just breached the 9th Commandment.

There is no choice in believing or not believing. You cannot "Choose" to believe something, you either do or you don't. If I said I believe God because I want to, then I am choosing, but even if I want to but I simply cannot force myself to believe it, even if I really really wanted to... It would be a lie unto myself.

Do not confuse human emotions and choices.

Now Ned,

Have not heard of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5), and this Anointing teaches us (I John 2:20, 27)?

Have not heard what is the bases of the New Covenant that surpasses the Old Testament (II Corinthians 3:3-6?

Do you think the Holy Spirit, His Baptism and His Anointing, went away?

FYI, Helen Keller reportedly developed an internal relationship with 'God' even before she had a vocabulary to describe God.

Phillips Brooks and Helen Keller

In one of her letters, Helen told Bishop Brooks that she had always known about God, even before she had any words. Even before she could call God anything, she knew God was there. She didn't know what it was. God had no name for her -- nothing had a name for her. She had no concept of a name. But in her darkness and isolation, she knew she was not alone. Someone was with her. She felt God's love. And when she received the gift of language and heard about God, she said she already knew.

People taught it to me and explained it, the only difference is that they never told me I had to believe it.

I did learn, I eventually lost any faith I once had, it took years and it diminished.
Every now and again I get that feeling of being watched, but it's nothing more than a forced paranoia from years of believing I was being watched. (watched by God, obviously)

But I still know the knowledge I was taught, I just disagree due to the extreme lack of evidence and complete lack of logic and total contradiction, page by page.

If you're suggesting you can't learn something and not like it then that's kind of ignorant.
I learned how to form concrete, but I hate doing it, so I don't. But I learned how.

After, of course, experiencing this:

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Hebrews 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

... right?

Did you thank God for all the above before your faith evaporated?

Not to the extreme that you go to Av, but yes. I spoke to God all the time, asking questions, begging for mercy, praying for real , important things and frequently thanking him for either what I thought was an answer to prayers or something simple.
I thanked him, I loved him, I accepted him.

As the years went on, it made less and less sense to me, where the explanation from Belief was "God did it" but the explanation from Science said "Well, let me explain it and show you"

Over the course of time, I no longer believed in God.

What kind of answer is this, Ned?

Did you, or didn't you:

  1. become enlightened
  2. taste of the heavenly gift
  3. become a partaker of the Holy Ghost
  4. taste the good word of God
  5. taste the powers of the world to come
If so, how is it science got in there and messed everything up?

Let's take #4.

How is it you tasted the good word of God, then somehow that word became bitter?

Did you experience this?

Revelation 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
Revelation 10:10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

How?... I read it and didn't ignore the nasty bits.
The word of God is vicious, unrelenting, narcissistic, masochistic and intensely immoral.
On top of that, God and Jesus turned their backs on me for 15 years of asking, begging for help.

Science answered the questions God could not.
If he really existed and gave a rats butt about me, then surely he would have made an effort to show himself more powerful than the word of Science.
He couldn't or didn't bother, in either case it proved to me that he either does not exists or he does not care. I do not and will not be a part of a regime that doesn't care about living creatures.
I am worth more than that, and so are you.
